Michael Jordan Scorches Current NBA Stars on Historic Statistical Streaks
James Harden has recorded at least 30 points in 30 consecutive games, which is the longest streak in NBA history for anyone not named Wilt Chamberlain.
Russell Westbrook has recorded a triple-double in 10 consecutive games, which passes Chamberlain’s mark for the longest triple-double streak in NBA history.
Which of those streaks is more impressive to Michael Jordan?
“Six championships.”
No, that wasn’t one of the answer choices presented to Jordan, but the Hornets owner went out of his way to praise his own accomplishments as Harden and Westbrook are still chasing their first rings.
Jordan doesn’t do many interviews or news conferences these days, but with Charlotte hosting the All-Star Game, he took part in a media session on Tuesday.
He did praise both Harden and Westbrook for their accomplishments, but also reminded everyone that championships are the ultimate goal.

“It shows the talent that we have within the league,” Jordan said of Harden’s and Westbrook’s streaks.
“It shows progression in the league. I am very proud of how both guys have done because they are making a mark for the league, and I think it really helps grow the league.
“Which is harder from a player’s standpoint? Six championships, by all means.”
Jordan has had streaks similar to both players, but never matched what either Harden or Westbrook has accomplished.
He had three separate streaks of 10-plus games in which he scored at least 30 points. But the longest 30-point streak of his career lasted just 11 games during the 1986-87 season.
Jordan also had a triple-double streak that lasted seven games during the 1988-89 season.
That streak now ranks as the third-longest in NBA history trailing just Westbrook (10) and Chamberlain (9).
In addition to the six championships, Jordan also has something else over the past two MVP winners are envious of: His own shoe brand.
Westbrook is signed to the Jordan Brand as one of the company’s endorsers and his Why Not Zer0.2 shoe was just released last month.
Harden is signed to Adidas, but that hasn’t stopped him from wearing Jordan’s shoes. He was even once admonished by Adidas for being spotted out in public with Air Jordans on his feet.
Both Harden and Westbrook will be in Charlotte this weekend for the All-Star Game.
Harden will be a starter for Team LeBron while Westbrook will be a reserve for Team Giannis.
