Young Girl Finds Tiny Box at Park with Note Attached from 'Little Angel'

The world we live in is riddled with doubt. People question just about everything they can, and while that prevents many bad things from happening, it also has the capacity to result in individuals with overly critical outlooks.

If online comments are proof of anything, it’s that people will always find fault with something, no matter how innocuous the initial subject, post, or story is.

So it shouldn’t be surprising that one young girl’s magical find has prompted a lot of warnings and verbal finger-wagging.

The place was Lamb Park, a park in Durrington, West Sussex, that offers a playground and field. The find concerned an item that someone had purposely left behind.

According to a photo of the park, some locals have taken it upon themselves to install homemade “doggy bag dispensers” around the park — but that’s not what the 12-year-old in question found.

Someone left something behind in a play area, where a child would find it. And it was Amber, Valerie Isted’s daughter, who snapped up the small object.

It was a small metal box with stamped designs on the outside. Inside, it held a handful of coins totaling a few dollars, and a hand-written note on Harry-Potter-themed lined paper.

“To the lucky person who finds this, I have left it for you,” the note read. “I really hope this makes your day.”

“Post a picture of this gift everywhere to spread a kind, encouraging message for others to do this too. Yours truly, The Little Angel.”

Valerie told the Worthing Herald that her daughter came running up to her, overjoyed with her find. “Look mum, dad,” she told them, “I’ve found something really special.”

“It was quite magical for her,” Valerie explained, “because she’s at that age where she is growing up a bit, but still really wants to believe in magic, fairies and angels. Her whole face lit up.”

But not everyone was so impressed with the find once Valerie posted it on a Facebook group she was part of. A few were convinced the “act of kindness” was suspect, and suggested that an adult with less-than-pure motives could be responsible.

“It becomes a sad world when a simple act of kindness is seen to some people as some kind of threat,” the mother said, denying that there is anything dark in her daughter’s find.

“Some people have even suggested reporting this to the police, which is ridiculous. Being nice isn’t a crime.”

Regardless of what the intentions of the anonymous gifter were, Amber has enjoyed the token and note, and it has certainly sparked joy for her.
