Since 2006, “America’s Got Talent” has highlighted some incredible talent, showcased some horrible auditions, and seen an ever-changing array of celebrity judges.

Fans of the show love keeping up with the contestants and arguing over who actually had a better performance, but for fans of the 2008 season, some sad news has just been released.

Neal E. Boyd, the young man from Missouri with an amazing operatic voice, has passed away at the age of 42.

Boyd passed away Sunday night at his mother’s home from a litany of conditions, according to the Scott County Coroner.

He suffered many weight-related complications and had experienced heart problems in the past.

Last year the Season 3 winner was also in a serious car accident with his mother. He could have died, but fortunately he pulled through.

“It was a very, very, very bad wreck,” he said. “It’s a very slow progress. I shattered a lot of bones, and shattered my hip, which has left me almost unable to use that leg for now.”

“It’s been difficult, because you can’t get up on stage right now, you can’t perform for the audiences and you can’t really do too much recording or traveling.”

He found his faith helpful in that difficult time of healing.

“Any time you’re in a moment of struggle, God has a way of coming in and uplifting you,” Boyd said.

“You have these ‘down moments,’ whether it be health or physical, like it is now, and it just feels like something great is about to happen once I get back on my feet and back in front of the audience again.”

“You never know what’s going to happen next. Just be grateful that you survived. When God’s given you the time to rebuild your spirit and rebuild your body,” he said.

Hopefully Boyd is now resting in peace in the presence of the God he loved. Meanwhile, fans will remember his beautiful talent and the wonderful music he made.
