Baker Mayfield has 'extensive meetings' with 4 NFL teams at Senior Bowl

Where will Baker Mayfield land?

That’s been one of the most talked-about questions leading up to the NFL draft in April.

Mayfield elected to participate in the Senior Bowl on Saturday to further prove to NFL scouts what he is capable of on the field and as a way for them to get to know him as a person.

Through the Senior Bowl activities, Mayfield has made it a point to sprint to and from every drill faster than anyone, showing scouts his work ethic.

Four teams have taken notice of his abilities and work ethic and held “extensive meetings” with the quarterback, according to Sports Illustrated’s Robert Klemko.

Those teams are the Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, New Orleans Saints and New York Jets.

Klemko reported the four teams have “put him through the wringer, teaching him some of their offensive concepts and asking him to recall them an hour later.”

Would you want Baker Mayfield on your team?

“That’s the only upside for me [being here],” Mayfield said of the meetings with the teams via SI. “I’m confident I can show exactly what I’m about, how much I care about football and how I’d do anything to win. And not just that. Put me on a board and let me show you how much I know about the game.

“Let me show you that I can pick information up, take it and run with it,” Mayfield added. “Getting in front of these people was so important, even bigger than the three years of film I put together.”

Another team that will interview Mayfield is the Denver Broncos, who are said to be a favorite to draft the Heisman winner.

“I’ll ask him about the off-the-field stuff,” Broncos GM John Elway said, referring to Mayfield’s stunts such as grabbing his crotch at the other team and planting the Sooners flag at the 50-yard line of Ohio State’s field.

“It’s good to have passion, though,” added Elway. “Some guys are more inward, and some are more outward with it. But you’ve got to be cocky to play the position.”

“I want to prove the type of person I am,” Mayfield said. “There’s a media portrayal of me and there are the people in the program who know who I am.”

“I’m excited for the next few months. I’m gonna give my best because that’s going to put me in the best position moving forward,” he said. “The stuff I don’t like about the process, I’ll deal with it. I can suck it up for two months. I’ve dealt with worse.”

The NFL draft begins April 26. Only then will we know for sure which team will select Mayfield to be their quarterback of the future.
