GOP Candidate May Have Committed Voter Fraud and It Could Save America's Elections

Share

Democrats, more often than not in 2018, have proven themselves to be a whiny and hypocritical bunch.

And that’s when they’re not calling for the families of their political rivals to outright die.

But, much to my surprise, all of that incessant moaning and complaining from Democrats might actually help America. Bear with me while I suss this out.

Democrats have long been opposed to any sort of voter identification laws, feeling that they’re racist, despite that sentiment being slightly racist in and of itself.

They often slam any sort of push for proper voter registration as an attack on poor and underprivileged minorities.

Instead of calling it voter ID registration, Democrats typically call it “voter suppression.”

Failed Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams called her opponent, Brian Kemp, “a remarkable architect of voter suppression,” according to the Associated Press.

It’s truly remarkable how tone deaf Democrats are, but you already knew that. What’s not nearly as clear is the fact that Democratic selfishness often comes around to bite them in the behind.

As CNN reports, the North Carolina State Board of Elections is refusing to call a razor-thin race between Republican Mark Harris and Democrat Dan McCready for the state’s 9th Congressional District.

Should ballot harvesting be illegal?

Harris has a slim 905 vote lead over McCready, but there are rampant allegations of actual voter suppression (not the Democrats’ flippant use of the term) and possible tampering.

According to the Associated Press, election officials are investigating whether Republican political operatives in parts of the 9th Congressional District used the so-called practice of “ballot harvesting.” Officials suspect absentee ballots were collected from minority voters but not delivered to the election offices. Ballot harvesting is illegal under state law, which allows only a family member or legal guardian to drop off absentee ballots for a voter.

According to the AP, investigators are focusing on areas in the district where an unusually high number of absentee ballots were not returned. They want to know whether some ballots were not turned in as promised to the local elections office, were unsealed or only partially filled out.

To be perfectly clear, if Harris did, in fact, use nefarious methods to procure his voter lead, I cannot condemn those actions enough.

Few things are more important to the structure and integrity of the American democracy than voting. Any attempts to tamper with that, be it for Democrats or Republicans, is an utter affront to the American people.

But I won’t pass judgment on Harris until the investigation plays out.

What I will pass judgment on, however, is the abrupt manner in which Democrats all of a sudden seem to be in dire need of actual voter identification laws.

In California, for instance, ballot harvesting is legal. In fact, Democrat operatives there admit using it to help flip seven House races that were called as Republican victories on election night only to end up as Democratic wins once absentee ballots were harvested, and then counted.

For years, Democrats have buried their heads in the sand and dismissed any allegations of voter fraud. But in North Carolina, they’re all too eager to jump on that narrative because it helps them.

Ballot harvesting should be illegal because as the races in North Carolina and California point out, it can greatly influence what votes are counted — and perhaps just as easily, what votes never get to the ballot box.

It’s despicable, yes, but the silver lining here is that if Democrats actually start getting on the voter identification movement, it would benefit every American, regardless of their political or ideological affiliations.

If we can get enough bipartisan support for it, we may actually ban ballot harvesting and get some legitimate voter identification laws and voter fraud countermeasures in place.

For once, Democratic whining may actually benefit all of America. For once.
