MSNBC's Joy Reid Doesn't Know What to Do With Black Pastor's Pro Trump Arguments

Share

Liberal media heads were spinning last week following reports alleging President Donald Trump had referred to a number of corrupt and destitute countries in various parts of the world as “s***holes” during a private conversation with lawmakers in the White House about immigration policy.

That remark was the topic of discussion Saturday morning between MSNBC’s “AM Joy” host Joy Reid and the typically jovial Pastor Mark Burns, a vocal supporter of the president, according to Independent Journal Review.

The segment quickly became combative as Reid and Burns argued over whether Trump had actually made the offending remark attributed to him or not, and rapidly devolved from there as both admitted they weren’t in the room to confirm for themselves but remained adamant nonetheless in their positions.

The conversation eventually shifted toward the actual nations allegedly described as “s***holes” and Trump’s aid and immigration policies in regard to them.

“The fact is there are many of those countries like Haiti who are in destitute. They’re in the worst situations because of governments that are not taking care of their own people,” Burns stated at one point. “Now we’re talking about people leaving their own country and coming to America. When in reality, President Trump clearly ran on a ‘Make America Great Again’ policy, which is why he won.”

Burns followed up that statement by pointing out that Americans should take care of other Americans first, and noted that the hundreds of millions of dollars in aid could be better spent to that purpose than being wasted by the corrupt governments of the aforementioned other nations.

Shortly thereafter, according to The Daily Caller, Reid essentially and unwittingly ceded the point that those other countries are less than desirable places to live when she challenged Burns, “as a man of God,” as to why he would support sending people back to live there.

“How can you, as a man of God, justify sending people back to such a country if the country is so broken? How can you justify sending people back to that country?” Reid asked as she pointed an accusatory finger at Burns.

“This is not about sending people back to their country,” Burns replied as Reid talked over him and insisted it was. Burns added, “We are talking about taking care of America first.”

Do you think MSNBC's Joy Reid was rude and disrespectful toward Pastor Mark Burns?

“Joy, it is not the responsibility of the United States of America to be the United States of the global world. This is the United States of America. You, Joy, I, am American,” Burns stated. “The president of the United States’ job, his vow and oath, was to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, and the citizens of the United States.”

“We are not leaving those people to die,” he added. “We are sending them aid, we are sending them millions of dollars,” to which Reid offered up the dramatic retort, “We are sending them to, we are sending them to die.”

As Reid continued to interrupt him, Burns attempted to shift the narrative and asked, “Do you believe that millions of dollars that we send to Haiti and those other countries, wouldn’t that money do good here in America?”

“Wouldn’t that money do good for other African-Americans?” he continued. “Let’s talk about the black mothers, let’s talk about the black fathers, let’s talk about the black single moms in America… “

But an increasingly frustrated Reid would have none of it and eventually stated that Burns had been wasting her time by not answering her questions, to which Burns replied that she was wasting his time by refusing to talk about Americans.

“Oh, well then, if I’m wasting your time, then goodbye,” Reid stated, as she cut Burns’ mic and ended the segment.

You can watch the highly combative interview in its entirety right here:

MSNBC host Joy Reid began the segment with an open display of her bias against the president and his policies, as well as those who support them, such as Pastor Mark Burns. She spoke to him throughout the interview in a highly condescending manner and constantly interrupted to prevent him from making his case effectively.

That fact that she dismissively derided him as wasting her time and cut his mic to end the segment showed that she was also incapable of debating him in a fair manner. But that is no real surprise.

Please share this on Facebook and Twitter so everyone can see the fireworks between Trump-supporting Pastor Mark Burns and MSNBC host Joy Reid.
