NRA Names New President -- the Gun Grabbers Won't Know What Hit Them

There is zero debate that the chief target of leftist gun grabbers who seek to undermine, if not fully repeal, the Second Amendment-guaranteed right to keep and bear arms is the one organization that stands tallest in defense of that natural right — the National Rifle Association.

The brunt of the ire of the anti-gun crowd for a long time has been largely directed at NRA executive vice president and CEO Wayne LaPierre, but now a new figure is about to emerge who will immediately draw intense fire from the anti-gun left.

In a statement that was released to the media Monday afternoon and posted to the organization’s website, the NRA announced who the association’s next president would be, and the gun grabbers will no doubt be furious.

That individual is none other than retired U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Col. Oliver North, a longtime board member whose new role as president should be finalized within the next few weeks.

“This is the most exciting news for our members since Charlton Heston became President of our Association,” stated LaPierre in the release. “Oliver North is a legendary warrior for American freedom, a gifted communicator and skilled leader. In these times, I can think of no one better suited to serve as our President.”

“I am honored to have been selected by the NRA Board to soon serve as this great organization’s President,” North said in a statement on the NRA site. “I appreciate the board initiating a process that affords me a few weeks to set my affairs in order, and I am eager to hit the ground running as the new NRA President.”

The position was opened up for North on Monday morning when Pete Brownell announced to the board that he would not seek election to a second term as president, and instead wanted to focus his attention and energy on his family and business.

Do you support the choice of retired Marine Lt. Col. Oliver North to be the next NRA president?

“Discussing this with Wayne LaPierre, he suggested we reach out to a warrior amongst our board members, Lieutenant Colonel Oliver North, to succeed me,” stated Brownell in his letter to the board. “Wayne and I feel that in these extraordinary times, a leader with his history as a communicator and resolute defender of the Second Amendment is precisely what the NRA needs.”

Second Vice President Carolyn Meadows was selected by the board to serve as the interim president until North is able to take the reins.

“The board acted quickly and with great vision. Oliver North is, hands down, the absolute best choice to lead our NRA Board, to fully engage with our members, and to unflinchingly stand and fight for the great freedoms he has defended his entire life,” LaPierre said of the decision. “Oliver North is a true hero and warrior for freedom, and NRA members are proud to stand with him.”

This is indeed incredible news for the NRA and its legion of members who have been under concerted assault by the left for years, but especially in recent months following the tragic mass shooting at a high school in Parkland, Florida.

Inexplicably, the NRA bore the brunt of the blame for that horrific massacre, even though the organization had absolutely nothing to do with it and despite blatantly obvious failures on the part of local and federal officials in regard to the person who committed that heinous act.

To be sure, the NRA has fought back against the unjust smears leveled against it by those who oppose the fundamental right of human beings to be armed for their own self-defense and seek to disarm the nation and rob the citizenry of the God-given right to bear arms.

North is nothing short of an uncompromising warrior who will wage a relentless effort to not only defend our cherished right to keep and bear arms, but will also likely go on the offensive to reclaim ground that has previously been ceded to the anti-gun crowd.
