Ret. Col.: If Leftists Would Murder a Teen for Smiling, What Would They Do to You if You Weren't Armed?

Share

By now, virtually everyone has seen or heard about the minor confrontation Friday afternoon on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial that quickly became a major, media-fueled frenzy.

The controversy focused unadulterated leftist hate on a group of Catholic school boys wearing red “Make America Great Again” hats, particularly one teen who had the glaring audacity to smile at an activist who got right in his face.

Unfettered rage rained down from the left on that boy — identified as Covington Catholic High School junior Nick Sandmann — and his family, friends and fellow students. The mood was exhibited via horribly slanted media accounts and social media commentary that included calls for horrific violence, including threats of death against Sandmann, his family and his schoolmates.

Yes, countless threats of death and violence were aimed at a 16-year-old boy simply because he was a presumably privileged, white, Trump-supporting Christian at a pro-life march who dared to exercise his right to stand his ground with a smile while a group of black supremacists hurled terrible insults at him and a leftist Native American activist beat a drum loudly and chanted mere inches away from his face.

In light of the left’s murderous and violence-seeking reaction to the disgustingly misreported story that inaccurately framed Sandmann and his classmates as unrepentant racists who instigated everything, conservative attorney, author and retired Army Col. Kurt Schlichter asked in a Twitter post how things might have turned out even worse if we as Americans didn’t have the freedom to protect ourselves from tyranny via the rights guaranteed by the Second Amendment.

Schlichter tweeted, “They would murder a teenager for allegedly inappropriately smiling. If you were deprived of your right to keep and bear arms, what do you think they would do to you for refusing to bend to their will?”

“Guns = Life + Freedom. That’s why the left hates them in our hands,” he added.

Do you cherish the Second Amendment as a bulwark against tyrannical leftist violence?

Schlichter included in his tweet an American flag emoji, a #2A and a GIF showing a series of various configurations of AR-15 semi-automatic rifles, America’s most popular firearm and our modern-day musket.

Schlichter’s point is not only valid, it is a key component of the increasingly heated rhetorical debate between the ideologies of the right and left.

The right largely want to be left alone to enjoy their freedoms and liberties as they best see fit, while the left largely wants to impose all sorts of restrictions on those freedoms and liberties — for the collective good of society, of course.

Liberals will lash out both verbally and physically against any who stand in the way of their grand plans … especially supposedly privileged white teenage boys wearing MAGA hats and a smile.

In fact, as Sandmann told the “Today” show’s Savannah Guthrie, he was smiling deliberately to try to defuse the situation.

Now, imagine if we didn’t enjoy the natural right to keep and bear arms as recognized and guaranteed by the Second Amendment, and consider how much further the increasingly violence-prone left may have pushed things in their overt effort to utterly destroy the future life and career of the Catholic boys and their families.

If progressives were truly confident that the targets of their partisan ire were unarmed and had no way to defend themselves, it could turn into a bloodthirsty mob.

Fortunately, career military men like Schlichter, are around the call them out on it. And he’s as proud of his military service as he is of the country he served.

In a recent Townhall article, Schlichter looked into whether the Covington kids have a chance of successfully suing the “blue check” Twitter-confirmed media figures and outlets who perpetuated abominable lies about them on Twitter, but also whether such lawsuits for defamation, libel or slander had any chance of success.

On the topic of suing Twitter itself, Schlichter wrote:

“Yeah, the hypocrisy of allowing liberal blue checks to spread their murder fantasies unimpeded while banning conservatives for innocuous comments is galling, (but) that’s not the real issue here.

“The real issue is the whipping up of a bloodthirsty frenzy against these kids based on what people knew were lies. That means the media and the Twitter blue check sociopaths who ginned up this frenzy.”

Though Schlichter admitted it would be difficult to win a lawsuit against a social media platform like Twitter, he had higher hopes for success against individual “trolls” on Twitter and the media figures in particular who knowingly spread lies and implicitly called for harassment and violence against Sandmann and others.

He wrote, “And you find the blue check psychos demanding these kids be murdered for their race, religion, gender, and the baffled smile, in the face of the abuse that these liars hid from their audience.”

If we had no Second Amendment-protected right to be armed for our own protection, and the left had no fear of a potential reprisal at the wrong end of a gun barrel, does anyone really think the bloodthirsty mob that emerged instantly on Twitter would refrain from attempting to carry out their murderously violent fantasies of destroying a conservative kid for smiling at a leftist activist?

Unfortunately, we have already seen that some leftists will pursue such fantasies even with the Second Amendment in place.

Should liberals ever succeed in their constant efforts to undermine and do away with the Second Amendment, it is a certainty that other leftists would feel entirely unrestrained in acting on their contemptuous hatred of anything and everything that stands in the way of their progressive agenda.

And that includes smiling, conservative kids wearing MAGA hats.
