War on Men: CNN Website Says Men are 'Inherently Violent, Dominant, Controlling'
It’s liberal logic at its finest.
An inmate doing 10 years in a California prison for armed robbery is rapidly on his way to making himself a darling of liberals everywhere by putting a spin on his incarceration that appeals to every anti-masculine trope currently running wild among today’s American left, while at the same time dodging responsibility for his own guilt.
He’s not a convicted criminal, he’s a prisoner of patriarchy.
That’s the takeaway from a commentary piece published by CNN and penned by Richard Edmond Vargas, an inmate of the Correctional Training Facility, commonly referred to as Soledad State Prison.
In the piece, Vargas acknowledges his own actions — committing robbery ostensibly to raise rent money — but manages to slide the blame onto the idea of “patriarchy,” or rather what liberals want to believe is the “toxic masculinity” that makes men unstable, vicious and dangerous.
“Patriarchy is a social system that defines men as being inherently violent, dominant and controlling while rewarding them with power for being that way,” Vargas writes. “It is no secret, especially these days, that we live in a patriarchal society. Why are we continually surprised when a man takes up arms and commits mass murder?”
It’s not an argument unique to Vargas, of course. Feminists love to excoriate what they call “patriarchy,” blaming the concept for everything from social ills to “sexist” treatment of dogs at the Westminster Kennel Club.
The problem with the argument, though, is that America today is the least patriarchal the country has ever been.
Women with children who have no fathers living with the family are at an astounding level. A little more than 40 percent of all births in the country last year were to unmarried mothers, according to the National Vital Statistic System (a collaboration of state health departments and the National Center for Health Statistics.)
That’s down from 43 percent in 2009, but it’s astronomical when, according to CNS, the rate was less than 4 percent in 1940.
Among blacks in 2015, almost 75 percent of births in 2015 were to single women, according to CNS. (That’s almost beyond belief.)
Yet for a commentary to be published by CNN’s website, a prison inmate is blaming patriarchy for his problems?
Common sense, and millennia of human history, have shown that young men are physically the most capable segment of the population. When your tribe depends on physical strength to kill prey and fight off rivals, a good supply of brave, athletic young men is a handy thing to have around.
But what those young men need more than anything is older men – who understand what masculinity is for – to teach them, by words and example. They’re getting a matriarchal sociaty, where women are in virtually every major position of authority — breadwinner and disciplanarian in the home, teachers and principals in the schools.
Prison might well be the most male-dominated place men like Vargas will ever live.
Thanks to the liberal “progress” of the past 70 years or so, young men today have neither words or examples to live by. But we’re blaming a phantom “patriarchy” for the problem.
Fortunately, conservatives aren’t buying it. And the social media backlash to the piece was fierce.
This is the new narrative shift. It is no longer “toxic” masculinity, it’s masculinity itself (any masculinity) that IS toxic. The next step is to pathologize masculinity as a disease in order to consolidate control and female supremacism. And we’re already seeing this now too.

Unfortunately, it’s nothing to laugh about.
The endless blather from modern liberals doesn’t just harm society as a whole, it creates exactly the kind of conditions where criminal behavior thrives among the most active and athletic segment of society, which is young men. Men are not inherently “violent, dominant and controlling” — they are the half of the human race created for the more dangerous, physically confrontational parts of survival.
They need the education from older males to be of maximum benefit to society, and when those models aren’t around, it means more young criminals like Vargas end up behind bars, blaming everyone but themselves for the actions that put them there.
Vargas might be sincere in his beliefs. He might be putting on the dog. After all, you can’t blame a convict serving 10 years for kissing up to California authorities by picking a target for his blame-shifting that liberals love to hate.
Even if it wasn’t patriarchy that landed him in prison, it might be some guilt-inducing appeals to patriarchy that gets him a shot at parole or some other kind of early release. After all, he’s now a published author on CNN.com.
Either way, it doesn’t change reality. The liberals who helped destroy the nuclear family with no-fault divorce, abortion, the “Great Society” welfare system and a host of generational mistakes are ruining lives and blaming it on something that no longer exists in the truest sense.
And that’s liberal logic at its finest.
