Country Time Lemonade Steps Up To Pay Fines & Permits for Kids with Lemonade Stands

Share

We all know what to do when life gives you lemons. You take them and make a refreshing summertime drink.

Far from the days when you had to squeeze actual lemons and add sugar and water to get the tasty beverage, making lemonade is pretty simple now. In fact, it’s so easy a child could do it.

If you’re a kid, the idea to have a lemonade stand has probably crossed your mind at one time or another.

Many of us even had our own lemonade stands when we were growing up — it was practically a rite of passage.

But as the world has progressed and we’ve developed more and more laws and guidelines, a concerning trend has been popping up.

Kids are starting to get their lemonade stands shut down. It’s a rather cruel joke: a pastime that used to help children develop business sense and awareness of a dollar’s worth are now being fined for trying to sell lemonade to passers-by.

Despite the awkwardness of having your first business endeavor shut down, some kids are springing back with surprising resilience.

Not only are they developing financial awareness, they’re becoming as savvy and slick as the grumps trying to shut them down. Some stands are now offering lemonade for free, but including a tip jar for those who are so inclined.

In many places, if you don’t want to run the risk of cops coming by and shutting down your operation, you have to acquire a permit. Sometimes the permit costs more than you’ll even be able to make in a day.

These requirements are being called unfair by more than just the young entrepreneurs and their parents.

Now a major player is taking notice. Country Time Lemonade will not stand for this bullying anymore.

They’ve developed “Legal-Ade,” and their goal is to allow kids to continue the national pastime of lemonade stands by paying up to $300 for fines and permits.

While they obviously have a vested interest in this charitable act, it’s certainly helpful and appreciated by those who have been slapped with ridiculous fines.

As they say in their video, “When life gives you arcane laws, make lemonade”: Country Time will handle the rest!
