Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin Honored with Hollywood Star, Message from Bindi Says It All

Share

As far as television personalities go, there are few hosts as lively or memorable as the late Steve Irwin.

Irwin captured the hearts, minds, and television sets of families around the world, and kept them captivated with his endless enthusiasm, expansive knowledge of wildlife, and daring shenanigans.

While the Australian daredevil routinely pulled risky stunts, it still crushed fans and family when his life was so abruptly taken in 2006.

In that time, though, he has certainly not been forgotten. He has left an indelible impression on his viewers, and lives on through the lives he’s touched.

At one point, during an interview, Irwin revealed what he imagined his legacy to be, and what he would want people to remember him for once he was gone.

“If there’s one thing that I, Steve Irwin, would want to be remembered for, is be remembered for passion and enthusiasm,” he said, with his trademark animation.

“Conservation is my job, my life, my whole persona,” he added. It’s safe to say that, 12 years later, he’s still remembered for those things.

And the world isn’t done honoring his life and contributions, either.

“Dad was truly the greatest wildlife warrior in the world,” Bindi said in a recent tribute video she posted on her Instagram.

“And how cool that the Hollywood Walk of Fame has a conservationist?” she continued. She glowed with pride as she continued to sing her father’s praises.

“Not only was dad the most passionate conservationist in the world,” Robert chimed in, “but he was also the best dad on the planet. We’re so excited and proud.”

To that end, Steve Irwin is being recognized with his very own, well-deserved star in Hollywood, fittingly in front of Iguana Vintage store on Hollywood Boulevard.

“Steve’s Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is an incredible honor for our family,” said his wife. “Steve would have been so chuffed. He was always such a proud Australian.”

His family will be present at the unveiling on Thursday, and visitors will now be able to find his dedicated star on their next visit to Hollywood Boulevard.

The family has continued their beloved husband and father’s work as well and promises to carry it on.

“We will celebrate Steve’s legacy and continue to protect wildlife and wild places,” Terri vowed. This honor and the awareness it brings will only help them keep fighting for the animals they love.
