'To The Person That Dumped This Chair, Your Puppy Was Waiting for You to Come Back'

Owning a pet is a huge responsibility. Animals need care and attention. If you find yourself unable to properly care for a pet, you need to take the time to find an appropriate home for your furry friend.

Sadly, many people don’t bother with the re-homing process. Instead, some owners abandon their pets when they no longer wish to care for them.

When an animal control officer in Brookhaven, Mississippi, found a puppy that had been intentionally abandoned, she decided to call out the owner’s neglect.

On the morning of June 24, Sharon Norton of the Brookhaven Police Department received an alarming message. According to the witness, someone driving a truck had dumped an armchair and television on the side of the road.

However, the individual didn’t just dump unwanted furniture. The person also left a puppy on the chair before driving away.

When Norton arrived at the scene, she realized that the puppy was unwilling to move from the armchair. The dog seemed hungry but too frightened to hunt for food.

It appeared to Norton that the puppy was faithfully waiting for its owner to return and bring it back home.

Angered by the apparent neglect, Norton snapped a few photos of the puppy to post on Facebook.

In the pictures, the puppy sits on the armchair beside a television and what appears to be a dumped mattress. The little dog also seems to be malnourished.

“To the person that dumped this chair, your puppy was waiting for you to come back,,slowly starving to death because it was afraid to leave the chair to find food. [S]hame on you for doing this to this puppy,” Norton’s Facebook post reads.

The post was shared on the Lost And Found Pets in Lincoln County, MS Facebook page.

The heartbreaking photos received over 1,000 shares as of Tuesday afternoon and an outpouring of comments. People couldn’t believe that someone would have the heart to dump a living creature along with old furniture.

However, things are finally looking up for the little pooch. Norton ensured that the puppy received proper medical treatment and he is now under the care of the Brookhaven Animal Rescue League.

According to WLBT, the puppy will soon have the opportunity to go to a new, loving home after the Rescue League nurses the dog back to full health.
