9-Year-Old Swimmer Starts Crying in Navy Brother's Arms When He Surprises Her Before Meet

Share

The bond between siblings is something to be treasured. And the bond between an older brother and his little sister? That’s something very special indeed.

When a big brother goes away to serve in the military, it’s always hard on any younger siblings left behind. Which, I suppose, makes a surprise homecoming all the more special.

When Sergeant Bradley Komar made a special trip home in time for the holidays to see his sisters, they had no idea he was coming.

When he showed up at their high school cafeteria and gave them both a huge hug, we couldn’t help but smile from ear to ear.

And then there was the time 7th grader Mea Arthur’s older brother Michael sat down next to her at the school lunch table — the emotion on her face was priceless.

Aren’t they the sweetest? Of course, we can’t get enough of touching stories like these. When big brothers make a grand gesture for a younger sibling, our hearts just melt.

And melt they did when 9-year-old Valary Andonoski and her big brother Jeff Wolski were reunited. The Navy sailor had been away for six months on deployment.

When Wolski walked in before his sister’s divisional swimming championship, the little girl burst into tears of joy.

“I cried because I hadn’t seen him for a very long time,” Valary said in a video. “And my birthday wish was for him to come see me. He actually made it come true … I feel like I should swim my heart out for him.”

And she did. The two embraced while surrounded by cheers. Valary took the water soon after. She made her brother proud, coming in first place, beating her own record by a full 10 seconds.

The announcers called Valary’s win a “Cinderella story.” We love that her big brother got to watch her shining moment in person.

Valary and Jeff’s mother expressed that she was so happy to see her children together again. The siblings are 10 years apart, but clearly, their bond is one that defies a gap in age.

Do you share a special bond with any siblings? If you do, we hope you get to see those siblings often, and that you’ll cherish them for years to come.
