Little Boy with Brain Tumor Cries When Chick-fil-A Breaks Sunday Closing Rule Just for Him

Share

Rules are rules, but sometimes kindness trumps policy. While Chick-fil-A is as famous for being closed on Sunday as it is for delicious chicken, the company is also known for the love they show to the people in their local communities.

Danny Agee is a kid with big goals and particular interests. As revealed in a video by KCEN-TV, not only does he aspire to be president one day, he also loves bowties and the greatest chicken in the world.

When doctors discovered a rare benign tumor — known as Craniopharyngioma — on Danny’s pituitary gland, they had to act fast.

Though the tumor was “noncancerous,” according to a post from Danny’s mom Mandy Agee, it was still necessary for doctors to remove it to prevent further complications.

The day before Danny’s surgery just so happened to be Easter Sunday. When he was given the go-ahead to eat the day before the procedure, all Danny wanted was his favorite food.

“We said, ‘All right, Danny, you can have anything you want,'” Joey Agee, Danny’s dad, told KCEN-TV. “And, of course, he picks his favorite which is chicken and fries from Chick-fil-A.”

Has your local Chick-fil-A ever opened on a Sunday?

Any parent with kids who crave those waffle fries on a Sunday knows how this conversation goes. Danny’s parents had to let him down and remind him that Chick-fil-A was closed.

But then a little act of kindness and a big miracle happened when Danny’s nurse at Baylor Scott and White McLane Children’s Center — Jenny Pearce — worked her magic.

“I don’t fully know what connection she [Jenny] has because I was out of the room…” Joey Agee wrote on Facebook.

“God is so good to us,” Danny’s dad continued, “that somehow through Jenny and the amazing leadership at North 31st St Chick-fil-A, my son Danny got Nuggets delivered not only on a Sunday but on Easter Sunday by a manager and the eat more chicken Cow.

“His reaction was priceless! Hugs for everyone.”

His reaction IS truly priceless — when the Chick-fil-A cow entered the hospital room, Danny broke down into tears!

“God, we will seek you no matter what and give you praise because you deserve it,” Joey posted on Facebook, along with photos and video of the wonderful surprise.

I have a feeling this sweet boy’s tears are about more than nuggets and fries. As Danny’s dad told KCEN-TV, “It’s really a story about how God can use everyday people stepping in and going the extra mile to create miracles.”

Amen to that! Not only was Chick-fil-A hand-delivered to Danny, but he’s home again and doing well.

The family celebrated Easter a week late, but as Danny said in a video clip, “it’s never too late to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ!”

I could not agree more! Liftable, a section of The Western Journal, has reached out to Joey Agee and nurse Jenny Pearce for comment but has not yet received a response. We will update this article if and when we do.

Way to go, Chick-fil-A! And welcome home, Danny! It’s so good to see you smiling and enjoying your favorite food once more.
