Mother Opens 5-Year-Old Son's Backpack To Find Hilarious School Photos Inside

Share

Every parent hopes for a traditional school photo of their child. We want the sweet smile, the perfect pose, styled hair and new clothes.

Of course, we also know life isn’t perfect and sometimes those picturesque photos don’t always reflect reality.

One mom from Atlanta, Georgia, is learning to embrace the chaos life sometimes brings with open arms. Andriel Miles is the proud mother of 5-year-old kindergartener Andrew “Drew” Miles.

This little guy has a big personality and he has recently shown that personality to the world through some photos his mom found in his backpack.

“Andrew has always been a silly kid with a HUGE personality!” Miles wrote on Facebook. “He has taken traditional professional pictures in a school setting in the past that were wonderful.”

Would you have reacted the same way if you found these photos in your child's backpack?

Miles went on to explain this is the reason she was so “shocked” to find the results from this year’s school photoshoot.

Miles told Liftable, a section of The Western Journal, that Drew wasn’t hiding the photos from her. She just happened to find them when looking in his backpack one day.

Take a look at what she discovered:

What she found is hilarious, though the mom didn’t feel that way at first.

“I was totally shocked!!!” Miles told Liftable. “As a child we could NOT do this.”

“Our parents made it very clear that we take a nice picture!” she said. “I couldn’t believe they let him take the picture this way! I was even more shocked when I saw it was the ONLY pose, LOL!”

In her original Facebook post, Miles said that she was mad, but after all that has happened since the photos went viral, she can’t help but smile.

“The response has been overwhelming!!!!” Miles told Liftable. “They love that smile!! I read a comment that said a person was having a really bad day and saw Drew’s picture and it made them laugh.”

One person even called Drew their “hero.”

“That photo shows more than Andrew being silly,” Miles said. “It says ‘be happy, be yourself.'”

That’s just what Drew plans to do as he told his mom he intends to make the same face next year. For anyone wondering, the 5-year-old did not get in trouble for his silly pose. Miles even says she bought the photos.

“They brought soooooooooooooo much joy around the world!” she wrote in a message to Liftable. The photos have gone international. Even so, Miles says “retakes are in our future.”

Miles explained on Facebook that school portrait company told her “the issue would be escalated and someone would follow up.”

She has since learned the company has a policy which allows “free spirited photos.” She says if she’d been aware of this, she wouldn’t have started out so upset.

We love this mom and her willingness to let her son be exactly who he is. As for Drew, he’s grateful for all the love.

To keep up with Drew and all his fun sides, follow his Facebook page or catch up with the little man on Instagram.

Liftable has reached out to Lifetouch School Photograph for comment but has not yet received a response. We will update this article if and when we do.
