Massive Share of Liberals Are Fine With Political Violence, New Poll Shows

Share

A shockingly high portion of liberals are comfortable with lawless behavior to advance political goals.

The shocking new survey from private polling firm Cygnal found that 42 percent of liberals believe it is “acceptable to go beyond peaceful protest even if that meant breaking the law,” specifically with respect to “obstructing ICE raids.”

Even worse, the finding increases to 60 percent for liberals under 30 years old.

The poll was conducted between Oct. 7 and Oct. 8, with 1,500 likely general election voters as the subjects.

Several ICE facilities across the country have faced violent leftist protests in recent months, with shootings and similar chaotic incidents plaguing officers as they enforce federal immigration law.

Neither the economy nor inflation were top of mind for respondents in the poll, with concern about “threats to democracy” named as the top issue for 21 percent of respondents.

“For the better part of a decade, inflation and the economy have been the number one issue, with a brief stint of illegal immigration in the top position driven entirely by Trump’s constant messaging on the issue,” Chris Lane, senior partner and pollster at Cygnal, said in a statement.

“It’s been that way for the last three to four years but now ‘threats democracy’ has become the top concern followed by the economy, immigration, and then healthcare in fourth.”

The poll was conducted less than one month after the assassination of Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA and a prominent conservative activist, during a campus event on Sept. 10.

President Donald Trump was nearly assassinated last summer, while other senior federal officials such as Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh faced threats of leftist violence in recent years.

Another poll from the Napolitan News Service found that a shocking 26 percent of those aged 18 to 34 answered “yes” to the question, “While it is always difficult to wish ill of another human being, is America better off now that Charlie Kirk has been killed?”

Some 24 percent of Democrats responded affirmatively.

A mere 38 percent of Democratic respondents shared that they had prayed for Kirk, his wife, and his children, compared to 75 percent of Republicans and 55 percent of respondents overall.

That survey was conducted between Sept. 12 and 13, mere days after Kirk’s murder, among 1,000 registered voters.

About 57 percent of Republicans called Kirk’s assassination a “significant turning point in American history,” while 40 percent of all respondents and 26 percent of Democrats said the same.
