They Never Learn: NYT Ordered to Pay $9 Million After Falsely Linking Innocent Student to 2023 Murder

A jury on Thursday awarded an innocent man $9.25 million in damages after finding that The New York Times defamed him when he played basketball for the University of Alabama.
The newspaper incorrectly reported that he had been at the scene of a fatal shooting in Tuscaloosa.
Kai Spears, who played for the Crimson Tide men’s team, sued the Times in 2023, The New York Post noted.
