#NeverBernie Goes Viral Just Hours After Reports Flood In on Potential 2020 Run

Share

Oh, Bernie.

If your ideas weren’t so dangerous and an active detriment to American society, you’d almost be funny.

But your ideas are that bad and your rhetoric is somehow even worse, so there’s painfully little humor to be found in all that you do.

And make no mistake, as absurd as far-left socialists like Sen. Bernie Sanders and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez are, the ideologies they represent should be an affront to any American who cares about freedom.

All those Americans should also be mortified at the thought of someone like Sanders running the country.

He ran for president in 2016, falling in the Democratic primary to Hillary Clinton, and he’s been listed among the possible candidates in 2020.

When news broke Friday that Sanders was about to make it official, it got a vocal response.

Almost immediately, the internet was set ablaze with #NeverBernie flooding every corner of social media.

The reasons behind #NeverBernie ran the gamut, but ironically enough, one of the biggest reasons it seems to have gained traction is that many Democrats blame Sanders for Clinton’s loss to Donald Trump in 2016.

Did Sanders’ cult-like followers’ refusal to vote for Clinton have something to do with her defeat? Perhaps.

But her own baggage and personality had just as much to do with Trump’s stunning win in 2016 as anything else.

Another issue that the left is harping on with Sanders involves the identity politics they love so much. To many leftists, the well-to-do 77-year-old — who often engages in identify politics himself — isn’t enough of a minority, or enough of a woman, or poor enough. The irony is delicious.

Would you like to see Bernie Sanders win the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020?

Curiously, despite #NeverBernie trending on social media, it should speak volumes that there’s a distinct lack of conservative or Republican voices echoing that same hashtag. Let’s be real here: There’s no way that Sanders can topple Trump.

As leftists tend to be, Sanders is a divisive and splintering personality among Democrats. That’s great news for conservatives or Republicans who want to see Trump stay in office for a second term.

So that puts us at a genuine crossroads. Do we want Sanders to stop spewing his vile socialist rhetoric and possibly infect impressionable minds? Or do we want him to continue to be the divisive and damaging force to leftists that he seems to be?

For now, it seems that we don’t have to decide. #NeverBernie … that is, unless he’s doing irreparable damage to the Democratic base. In that case, #Bernie2020.
