Obama-Appointed Judge Trump Labeled a 'Lunatic' Gets Assigned to Ilhan Omar's Case

The decision on whether to release information that could damage the case against Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota rests in the hands of a judge with a track record of ruling against President Donald Trump.

Federal agents searched Omar’s home on Oct. 12 as part of an investigation that is believed to be linked to Omar’s immigration status. Multiple organizations are seeking to have the warrant made public.

Jeanine Pirro, the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, said making the warrant public now “imperils the investigation,” according to The New York Times.

Chief Judge James Boasberg of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia will decide the case, according to Fox News.

Boasberg generated headlines for blocking deportation flights of illegal aliens in 2025.

In a Truth Social post last year, Trump called Boasberg a “Radical Left Lunatic of a Judge, a troublemaker and agitator who was sadly appointed by Barack Hussein Obama,” adding that “This judge, like many of the Crooked Judges’ I am forced to appear before, should be IMPEACHED!!!”

After calls to publicize the warrant, Boasberg told the Justice Department to explain why he should not make it available, Fox News reported.

The Justice Department said the timing is wrong since they are still executing the warrant.

“This request sounds rash because it is rash,” Pirro wrote in a filing.

“The Court should reject it without prejudice for renewal after the search warrant has been fully executed and a charging decision is made public.”

The filing said the Justice Department will release details of the warrant once any charges are filed.

“The United States has not found a single case where such relief has been ordered, and based on their papers, neither have the Applicants,” the filing said.

“That is because there is no legal justification for such an order under either the First Amendment or common law. Even under ordinary circumstances, the First Amendment’s ‘experience and logic’ test does not entitle the public to access a search warrant affidavit and related materials before prosecutors make a charging decision,” the filing added.

Omar has been arguing that agents took property from her home, interfering with her work in Congress, Fox News reported.

Trump has said Omar could face deportation due to the investigation, adding that she is a “sick and very dishonest person,” The New York Times reported.
