Report: 'Ilhan Omar's' First Husband 'Disgusted' By Rep's Alleged Brother-Husband's Gay Lifestyle, Still Lived With Both While They Were Legally Married
If you had told me a month ago that we wouldn’t even be sure that Ilhan Omar was the Minnesota Democrat’s real name — in fact, that we were pretty sure it wasn’t — I would have averred that she’d certainly be an ex-representative.
Alas, I kind of underestimated the capacity of Omar to endure embarrassment.
She used the Oct. 12 raid on her house in Washington, D.C., by immigration officials to fundraise, while mostly disappearing from the map otherwise. Then, as evidence mounted that she married her brother, she gave a non-answer answer — “not to my knowledge” — when asked by MS NOW’s Chris Hayes whether she’d ever wed a relative.
And now she has to endure the indignity of her first husband’s disapproval of her second husband — who was almost certainly her brother and almost certainly homosexual in his inclinations — being aired in public.
So, in case you haven’t been noticing the whirlwind of events that have taken place in just two short weeks, among other things, we’ve basically taken Omar’s alleged marriage to her brother from being a conspiracy theory if you believe in it to being a conspiracy theory if you don’t.
Omar had been married to Ahmed Hirsi in a Muslim religious ceremony in 2002, although this wasn’t a legally registered marriage. She then filed for a divorce within the faith tradition and had it granted. Then, in 2009, she married Ahmed Elmi, a British Somali.
Elmi, we would later discover, is allegedly Omar’s real surname, something that was hidden from authorities when her father sought asylum in the United States because he had served as a colonel in the Somali Army under despot Mohamed Siad Barre, which would have made him ineligible for refugee status.
The quickie marriage to Elmi raised a number of red flags, and not just because of the surname. She allegedly introduced him as her brother, he referred to Omar’s children as his nieces in social media posts, and reports now say he was raised by Omar’s sister when he was in London.
This doesn’t even count the fact that he, from all appearances, has never been terribly interested in responding to feminine wiles, to put it mildly.
And now, the New York Post reported Wednesday not only that Omar’s first husband live with her while she was with her “second husband,” but that he was disgusted by his “dirty dandy” persona:
Ilhan Omar’s first husband was “embarrassed” when her effeminate “brother” — who she is accused of marrying — came to live with them in Minnesota, a family friend told The Post.
The congresswoman (D-Minn.) had two young children with Ahmed Hirsi, when she suddenly split from him in 2009. She then quickly married an “extremely feminine Somali guy from London,” Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, fond of wearing short shorts with cowboy boots…
One of Hirsi’s close friends claimed Omar and her first husband were actually still together, and Elmi suddenly moving in caused strain on their relationship. The legal marriage was reportedly so he could get “papers” to start a new life in the US, as The Post has previously reported.
This is what the kids like to call immigration fraud. But moreover, it shows that the Somali enclaves in Minnesota aren’t nearly as tolerant of a “dirty dandy” — as Ahmed Elmi liked to call himself on social media, while wearing outfits even the Pet Shop Boys or Elton John might have turned down — as a “Squad” member might be.
“He was walking around in tight female clothing, which is heavily frowned upon in the Somali community, so I went to ask Ahmed about it,” Hirsi’s friend said.
“He told me that it was his wife’s brother from London and that Ilhan had ‘embarrassed all of us by bringing him here.’ Ahmed used very strong words and said it was ‘disgusting.’”
“All of the Somalis in Minneapolis were gossiping and trying to find out who this guy was,” he added. “Then everyone realized it was Nur Said Elmi’s son, and Ilhan’s brother. Everybody was shocked.”
But even though these details were available during Omar’s ascent as a Minnesota state lawmaker, the mainstream media has refused to take the tranches of evidence that she married her gay brother because he needed a pathway to U.S. residency as anything more than a conspiracy theory.
What’s more, the source the New York Post talked to said that Hirsi didn’t want Elmi “anywhere near his children,” including the one who was born while the “dirty dandy” was legally married to Omar.
“Ahmed used to insult her brother all the time and say nasty things,” the source said.
“He told me, ‘He’s an uncle to my children and I am scared he is going to influence them with his effeminate lifestyle.’”
Omar’s actual legal husband was apparently a source of friction for Omar and Hirsi, who definitely wasn’t her actual husband at the time. Also, I’m the ghost of Ross Perot.
“Ahmed and Ilhan used to argue over her brother all the time,” the source said. “I saw them arguing and shouting in public.”

Shocker of shockers, there was no comment all around when the New York Post contacted the principals of the story.
Omar would eventually wed Hirsi legally in 2018, although the couple divorced in acrimonious circumstances after Omar became involved with a married strategist to whom her campaign was paying obscene amounts of money. She then married him.
No word yet on who husband No. 4 will be, since they’re still happily together — but if you can get good odds on Hasan Piker on Kalshi, I’d say go for it.

The key takeaway here is that Omar has been a national figure since her election to the U.S. House in 2018. There have long been questions about her immigration-related shenanigans, not in the least to do with her allegedly wedding her brother in an effort to get him a green card.
(That failed, mind you: He’s now a “critically queer” scholar working in Britain whose thesis was called “Bravery Amidst Brutality: A Queer Resistance to Violence and Criminalization in Contemporary Kenya.” Just saying.)
Being a beard isn’t illegal, even if you decide to enter politics. Doing it to get someone into the country is.
And while it’s arguably the least of Omar’s problems right now, what’s amazing is how little she apparently did to hide it.
Any major news network or newspaper that went up to Minneapolis and spent some time poking around could have broken this story wide open in 2019, not 2026. Even now, they don’t want to cover it.
Rest assured, they’ll be covering her return flight to Mogadishu when and if (and it’s looking increasingly like when) it happens — and still, when it comes to the evidence that she perpetuated decades of immigration fraud, they’ll be wholly mum. So it goes.
