Fed. Judge Suspended for Psychiatric Eval After Anti-White Outburst in Court Leads to Astoundingly Racist Quotes

U.S. District Judge Ada Brown of the Northern District of Texas has been stripped of her docket and ordered to undergo psychiatric testing after a racially charged courtroom confrontation in the spring.

A special committee of the Fifth Circuit found a reasonable basis to conclude that a mental condition is interfering with her ability to do the job.

The order grew out of an April 2026 hearing in Dallas, well-known attorney Jonathan Turley wrote.

During that proceeding, Brown directed a series of racial remarks at attorney Ezra Young, an ethnic Hispanic.

Brown, a Trump appointee who is black and has Native American ancestry, told Young he appeared “very intimidated” by “black excellence, in light of your white mediocrity.” When Young replied that he is Hispanic, she answered, “Well, you are white-presenting; is that fair to say?” She also called him a “white savior” who had come “to save all the stupid black lawyers in Texas who need your help, from New York.”

Young filed a judicial misconduct complaint after the hearing, Turley wrote.

Fifth Circuit Chief Judge Jennifer Walker Elrod identified a second complaint, according to Bloomberg Law.

Investigators reviewed the transcript of Brown’s hearing with Young and other records. They also looked into reports that Brown had stepped away from cases, treated other judges and staff in a hostile manner, and effectively stopped performing core parts of her role, according to Bloomberg Law.

The special committee ordered an independent psychiatric examination, Brown did not confirm she had complied within the required time. On September 29, Elrod temporarily reassigned Brown’s cases and barred her from receiving new ones, the New York Post reported.

Brown has declined to take part in the proceedings.

In a July written response she said she did not believe her demeanor was inappropriate during what she called “candid conversations about race,” according to the Post, though she acknowledged the exchanges “might have been handled more delicately.” The order for psychiatric testing remains in force.

According to her Federalist Society biography, Brown graduated magna cum laude from Spelman College and earned her law degree from Emory University School of Law. Both schools are in Atlanta.

The underlying case that brought Young into her courtroom involved a Black law professor’s tenure dispute with Southern Methodist University.

The Fifth Circuit Judicial Council is still reviewing the complaints. Brown remains barred from her docket while the psychiatric evaluation and the misconduct processes continue.
