Woke Rocker Neil Young Sues Trump for Playing Song at Ohio Rally, Wants a Court to Award Him Millions

Woke singer and songwriter Neil Young is so upset with President Donald Trump that he’s decided to sue him over a rally in Ohio.

Young is no stranger to criticizing the president and whining openly about how his music is used, notably the 1991 hit “Rockin in the Free World.”

In 2015, NPR reported that just as Trump announced his campaign for the presidency, Young complained about the candidate’s use of the song for an event at Trump Tower, saying Trump did not get permission.

The campaign responded at the time that the use was authorized through ASCAP, Young’s copyright group.

In 2020, WTSP reported that Young once again became angry when Trump used the song along with a few others for a Fourth of July celebration at Mount Rushmore.

Now, Deadline reported that he’s involved his lawyers.

According to a lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, “Just prior to Donald J. Trump taking the stage to speak at the Youngstown Rally, the Committee [Trump 47 Committee Inc.] caused Rockin’ in the Free World to be played. On information and belief, the Committee has caused the Song to be played numerous times at other rallies designed to encourage Republican votes in the upcoming mid-term elections.”

It also said, “Young has suffered damage to his reputation and brand as a result of the implication that he supports Donald J. Trump in any way.”

Young is seeking $10 million in damages. The White House did not respond to Deadline when asked about the lawsuit.

Young should not worry. After his years of being a crybaby, no one would imagine he supports the president.

In August 2025, Neil Young and the Chrome Hearts released “Big Crime.” The lyrics read as follows for one verse: “Got to get the fascists out, got to clean the White House out. Don’t want no soldiers on our streets. Got big crime in D.C. at the White House. Got big crime in DC at the White House.”

The chorus is just as original: “No more great again, no more great again. Got big crime in D.C. at the White House.”

Indeed, the orange man is very bad.

In January, Young announced he was giving his entire library to the people of Greenland amid Trump’s remarks about annexation.

What better way to boost their spirits?

The aged rocker seems more than a bit delusional.

His liberal politics may be genuine, but how many of his publicized anti-Trump schemes are an effort to maintain relevance?
