Samantha Bee Gets Shut Down by Western Conservative Summit - 'Bullied and Harassed' Attendees

Share

Samantha Bee didn’t have a good week last week. This week isn’t shaping up to be much better.

According to The Denver Post, Bee’s show has been denied media credentials to the Western Conservative Summit at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver after her remarks calling Ivanka Trump a “feckless c—” and suggesting she ought to seduce her father so as to change his immigration policies.

In fairness, the organizers of the Western Conservative Summit — the largest gathering of conservatives outside of Washington D.C. — said this wasn’t the only bad behavior that led them to turn down Bee’s media credentials for the June 8-9 event.

“In 2016, Samantha Bee’s production team came to the Western Conservative Summit. They did not provide fair coverage,” said Jeff Hunt, director of the Centennial Institute at Colorado Christian University and chairman of the Western Conservative Summit.

“Instead, they bullied and harassed our attendees. Conservatives are tired of being mistreated by the liberal media. Shows like ‘Full Frontal with Samantha Bee’ are not intent on reporting but bullying and shaming conservatives.”

When Bee’s not using her show to attack the first daughter with horrible slurs, she often goes to events like the Western Conservative Summit, where she pokes fun at the people who don’t agree with her and says how awful they are.

Her show’s 2016 segment focused on just a few of the summit attendees who she could pick on and took a smattering of their words with little or no context and laughed at them for supporting the “tangerine Caligula” that was Donald J. Trump. I’m not going to post it here, but if you want to watch it, well, here you go.

Another segment during which her show poked fun at Conservative Political Action Conference attendees ended up attracting more attention, this time because her show insinuated that a young man who had lost some of his hair due to chemo had a neo-Nazi style haircut.

After that incident, Bee apologized (I’m noticing a pattern) but the young man was relatively unmoved.

If this latest incident is any indication, Bee’s going to essentially be locked out of the conservative events which her show has made so much hay off of mocking.

Apparently, Hunt and the Western Conservative Summit weren’t quite convinced by Bee’s apology in this case.

Do you think Samantha Bee should be fired?

That’s because she scarcely stood by it herself. Just hours after this was tweeted, Bee said the real travesty was that her sexist vulgarity obscured the plight of “about 1,500 missing unaccompanied migrant children,” even though the basis for that claim — and thus the righteous outrage that fueled Bee’s segment — was also falling apart by the time she gave her speech.

The great fear for Bee, of course, is that more entities stop associating themselves with her show. Sure, the Western Conservative Summit may be a bit of a blow, but that segment can be replaced.

However, Bee is slowly becoming radioactive — even to some liberals, who might be willing to let her off the hook but won’t appear on the show.

So no, she won’t be attending the Western Conservative Summit this week. We get the feeling it will be the first of many times she gets told no.
