President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump were greeted with something wholly unpleasant at the Kennedy Center. It changed quickly.

Trump's new portrait captures the two-time president's steely determination and uniquely American can-do tenacity.

"I would say that this portrait appears to be AI, but it's obviously devoid of any level of intelligence at all."

A painting that was once prominently displayed in the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy was put into the basement until the Trump administration.

"The intention of my public works is to become part of the place they inhabit and its physical, material history," the artist said.

“It was wonderful to have so many new visitors at the Kennedy Center," a representative for the institution said.

Trump noted: "In any event, I would much prefer not having a picture than having this one, but many people" have complained.

The artist received a lot of hate mail for his controversial exhibit. He said his work was largely misunderstood.

After a performance of the Gay Men's Chorus was canceled at the Kennedy Center, supporters voiced their angst toward President Donald Trump.
