After Truck Completely Torched by Flames, Owner Finds Bible Unharmed on Floorboard
When the unexplainable happens, it might be easy to slough it off as a coincidence. But for those with strong faith, miracles are recognized every day.
For the Gaut family of Vinita, Oklahoma, a miracle occurred in the wake of a tragedy, just weeks before Christmas 2018.
The family was inside their home when they heard the horn of their truck blaring. Steven Gaut looked outside to find a devastating sight.
His truck was on fire. “By the time I got to the truck it was totally engulfed with flames,” he wrote on Facebook.
According to KJRH-TV, how the fire got started is unknown. Officials guessed a lit cigarette was possibly tossed in the truck’s bed, causing it to catch fire.
“I felt like crying honestly and it’s hard for a grown man to cry,” Gaut told the news outlet.
If the horn hadn’t gone off, the fire likely would have spread to the family’s home.
Once the fire was put out, the family looked through the wreckage, seeing what might have survived the flames.
“The first thing I asked for was to see if my bible was OK,” Gaut explained. He’s had the book since he was 13 years old.
When they found it on the floor of the truck, completely untouched despite its charred case and the rubble around it, they could only believe it was a miracle.
“God sent his Angels…” Gaut wrote on Facebook. “I’m very [grateful] no one was hurt, and thank God for saving our lives.”
The man was amazed his bible had survived, but the family still lost so much. With the holidays on the way, the incident really hit them hard.
A Facebook fundraiser was started as well as a GoFundMe campaign. Christmas may be in the past, but this family could still use any help they can find. So far they have raised just over $3,000 of their $4,000 goal on Facebook.
We are so thankful to see no one was harmed in this accident and hope this family finds many more blessings in the new year. Our hearts are with them.
