Tyler Perry Steps In To Help 4 Children of Murdered Single Mom
The Apostle Paul wrote that the rich “are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share.” And that’s exactly what one wealthy Hollywood star has done.
The story began with a Georgia woman named Tynesha Evans. Evans had struggled with financial issues and was facing eviction, according to WSB-TV.
So when her boyfriend, Othniel Inniss, offered to meet her at a bank to withdraw some money, it must have sounded like a dream come true. Soon enough, though, it morphed into a nightmare — one that proved fatal.
Evans owed $3,200, according to WSB-TV. Perhaps that large amount of cash played into the conflict that left her dead.
Whatever the reason, though, Inniss allegedly shot and killed Evan, leaving her daughters orphaned.
“She can’t kiss me. She can’t tell me to wake up in the morning after I missed my alarm,” daughter Shakemia Turner said. “She can’t. She’s not here.”
The future seemed grim for the family. Then Evans’ daughter Audrey Turner received a phone call from a most unexpected individual.
“It was a call I wasn’t even going to answer,” she explained. “I said, ‘Well, let me answer it to see who it is.’”
“I answered, and the person on the other end said, ‘This is Tyler.’ I said, ‘Who?’ and he said, ‘Tyler Perry.’ At that point, I just broke down crying.”
Perry, who created the “Madea” series of films and appeared in “Gone Girl,” is no stranger to charity. He paid for $400,000 in layaway items at Walmart in 2018, USA Today reported.
For Evans’ daughters, though, his gift had a much greater personal impact. Perry has offered to fly Evans’ body to her home state of Wisconsin and cover the cost of her funeral.
He also paid for six months of rent for the family. What’s more, he has even footed the cost of tuition for Sharadiant Turner, a freshman at Spelman College.
“I’m going to do what she wanted me to do,” Sharadiant said. “She started me on math, and now I’m going to get to graduate with a mathematics degree from Spelman College without debt, it means everything.”
She added, “This is amazing. We can’t thank him enough.”
Fourteen-year-old Shakemia Turner called Perry “an angel on Earth.”
