Watch: Scorching GOP Ad Slams Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris over Wanting To Let Boston Marathon Bomber Vote

Share

A brutal new ad from the GOP slams two Democratic presidential candidates — Sens. Bernie Sanders and Kamala Harris — for their views on giving terrorists the right to vote.

The video shows news footage of the horrific 2013 Boston Marathon bombing and the Islamic terrorist who committed the attack.

“Democrats believe this terrorist should be allowed to vote from prison,” the ad said.

The Islamic terrorist attack killed three people and injured over 260 others.

The Republican ad shows footage of Sanders saying he would allow convicted felons, including Islamic terrorists, to vote in elections.

“Does this mean that you would support enfranchising people like the Boston Marathon bomber, a convicted terrorist and murderer?” the Vermont independent was asked during a CNN town hall Monday. “Do you think that those convicted of sexual assault should have the opportunity to vote for politicians who could have a direct impact on women’s rights?”

Sanders began by discussing how not enough people vote in elections before finally addressing the question.

Do you think terrorists should forfeit their right to vote forever?

“Here is my view. If somebody commits a serious crime, sexual assault, murder, they’re going to be punished,” Sanders said. “They may be in jail for 10 years, 20 years, 50 years, their whole lives. That’s what happens when you commit a serious crime.”

He said it’s a “slippery slope” to determine that some people should not be able to vote because of their crimes.

But it’s not a complicated issue; people who commit unforgivable crimes against humanity, like terrorists and mass murderers, should never be allowed to vote.

CNN host Chris Cuomo seemed stunned and predicted the GOP’s opposition ad.

“Applause for the answer,” Cuomo said. “My follow-up questions goes to this being like you’re writing an opposition ad against you by saying you think the Boston Marathon bomber should vote not after he pays his debt society, but while he’s in jail. You sure about that?”

Sanders confirmed his stance — he wants terrorists to vote.

“This is what I believe,” the senator said. “Do you believe in democracy?”

But Sanders isn’t the only 2020 Democrat who is interested in the coveted terrorist vote.

Harris faced a similar question during Monday’s town hall. CNN host Don Lemon asked whether people “in prison, like the Boston Marathon bomber, on death row, people who are convicted of sexual assault, they should be able to vote?”

“We should have that conversation,” she said.

After a backlash, the California Democrat walked back her comment a day later, saying, “Do I think that people who commit murder, people who are terrorists should be deprived of their rights? Yeah, I do. I’m a prosecutor.”

Those on the left make it easy to use their crazy rhetoric against them because their policy proposals are getting more ridiculous with each passing day.

It’s common sense that terrorists shouldn’t be able to participate in elections and potentially influence public policy.

The Democrats who want to let enemies of the American people have a voice in our democracy will find that those American people don’t share their deranged views.
