Woman Cuts Off an Incredible 2 Feet of Hair for Makeover She's Always Wanted

Share

Minneapolis-based stylist Christopher Hopkins is used to seeing transformations firsthand. A frustrated actor during the ’80s, he ended up abandoning stage life and working for multiple salons across California and the American Midwest.

He funneled his stylistic experience into his own establishment in downtown Minneapolis, a book, appearances on the Oprah Winfrey Show, and several successful Internet-based video series. Now dubbed The Makeover Guy, he earns his keep by making peoples’ ideas about how they should look a reality.

Yet even Hopkins must’ve been surprised when Angela appeared in his salon. A self-professed tomboy, she wanted to update her personal style brand.

“I like to look good, but I’m just not sure what to do,” she said. “I saw some pictures on Facebook and thought, ‘I don’t want to look like that anymore.”

As she sunk into Hopkins’ stylist’s chair, she added, “I am an empty canvas. I need some help.”

Indeed, Angela sported an unstyled mane roughly three feet long, and though her husband loved its length, its unwieldiness was getting the best of her. “I am shedding more than our dogs, I’m tired of it, I can’t do anything with it.”

She also admitted that she didn’t have a clue about makeup. However, she knew whose look she wanted to imitate: the dramatic bob of Robin Wright’s character in “House of Cards.”

Hopkins didn’t waste any time fulfilling her request, and as his scissors snipped away just above the nape of Angela’s neck, she heaved a mighty sigh. “Isn’t that a relief?” he asked.

“That feels so good. Bye, honey!” she said, patting the thick, severed hank of hair that Hopkins handed to her.

That hair didn’t just get thrown away, either. Angela had plans to give it to a friend who needed a wig.

In the end, her transformation from au naturale matron to smoky-eyed sophisticate couldn’t have been more dramatic. She’s happy she did it, too.

“I’m stunned,” Angela stated. “I’ve never felt this beautiful in my life, and I was second guessing my decision at first.

“I was excited to do it, but you’re always so excited to make a big change like this… It turned out so much better than I thought it could.”
