Woman Smashes Laptop over Partner's Head, Goes on Expletive Rampage Before Being Kicked Off Flight

It says a lot about the current state of American culture when, in public, a woman bashes her partner’s head with a laptop and it hardly garners much of a response from the nearby onlookers.

And most of what that says about the current culture is hardly anything good.

A couple was removed from an American Airlines flight on Sunday, according to Yahoo, after a heated pre-takeoff argument bubbled over into an embarrassing physical altercation at Miami International Airport.

The woman who posted the video, Julia Scorupco, told Yahoo that she didn’t actually record the video herself, but received it from an unidentified passenger who AirDropped it to her.

“This happened right before takeoff, and the flight was delayed 2 hours. A woman on the flight claimed to have seen them fighting already at the gate,” Scorupco wrote in the caption to her YouTube video. (Warning: Some very strong language.)

Sadly, the argument-turned-Hulk-smash is a microcosmic picture of the “reality” television culture of the U.S.

First, there is the very reason the woman, identified by Miami-Dade Police Department as “Mrs. McLemore,” and her partner (it is unclear if it was a husband or boyfriend) were fighting in the first place.

“You want to try to f—ing look at other women, n—–? Nah, f— you,” McLemore could be heard saying to her partner.

Wandering eyes are obviously not OK. Unfortunately, if that man was truly looking at other women, it’s basically the direct result of a culture that promotes promiscuity and faithlessness in practically everything that passes as art or entertainment.

Do you think American Airlines could've acted sooner?

Second, and to be clear, if her language wasn’t enough of a clue, the woman who eventually beats the man with a laptop is clearly no saint either.

Even after being informed that her vulgar tirade was taking place in front of a child, McLemore’s language left much to be desired.

“Yeah I know, I f—ing consoled the f—ing child.”

Swell. Good for you.

The woman’s behavior was beyond abhorrent, and nobody seemed to bat an eyelash at it, as if to be tacitly OK with the outburst.

When the man got out of the seat, reportedly telling the visibly perturbed woman that she’s “out of control,” she followed him still itching for a fight.

That’s when she channeled her inner-most pro-wrestler to slam a laptop over the head of the man.

Yes, there’s some slapstick humor in the whole ordeal, but as a whole, it still leaves a sour taste regarding the current state of American culture.

Miami-Dade Police Department told Yahoo the couple was on a connecting flight to Los Angeles from Ecuador.

Perhaps most depressingly of all, it appears that nobody will actually have to face any sort of punishment for their actions, outside of the moderate inconvenience of being asked to leave a flight that was still at the gate.

A police search for the woman after she deplaned “yielded negative results,” according to Yahoo, and she did not answer her phone. The man refused to cooperate or write any statement over the laptop assault, Yahoo reported.

To give credit where it’s due, at least American Airlines seemed to defuse the situation before it notably affected any of the other passengers. (Dealing with the public can put airlines in a no-win situation.)

The Western Journal reached out to American Airlines for comment on the now-viral video and received the following statement:

“Prior to departure from the gate on Sunday at Miami International Airport, two passengers who were traveling together were involved in a dispute. Law enforcement was requested, and both passengers were removed from the aircraft.”

“We thank the American crew who worked quickly to defuse the situation. Their actions resulted in a safe environment for all of our passengers.”

If this isn’t proof — like that public brawl at Disneyland earlier this month or the drenching of New York City police officers this week — that trashy reality television is rotting our culture, nothing is.
