There Was 1 Part of Cohen's Testimony That the Leftist Media Hated and Trump Liked -- the Part Where Even Cohen Agreed No Hard Evidence for Collusion

Share

The establishment media zealously reported on Michael Cohen’s testimony before the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday, but one important bit of information has been largely overlooked in the media’s coverage.

The former attorney for President Donald Trump bluntly told the panel he does not have evidence of collusion between Trump and Russia.

“Questions have been raised about whether I know of direct evidence that Mr. Trump or his campaign colluded with Russia. I do not,” Cohen said.

Like Trump’s Democratic and liberal critics, Cohen said he does have his “suspicions” of collusion, but they don’t amount to much more than the rumors that have been peddled by the left-wing media over the past two years.

Cohen’s story about suddenly “remembering” an incident between Donald Trump Jr. and Trump regarding what he claimed was the notorious Trump Tower meeting might have been meant as a kind of consolation prize for liberals.

The crucially important part here is that someone who worked very closely with Trump for a decade has no knowledge or evidence of collusion with Russia — the story the liberals have been using to attack Trump’s presidency since before he was even sworn in.

Of course, this brief and rare instance of honesty from Cohen pleased Trump, who commented on the hearing at a news conference in Vietnam.

“But it was very interesting because he didn’t lie about one thing. He said no collusion with the Russian hoax,” Trump said.

“I mean, he lied about so many different things. I was actually impressed that he didn’t say, ‘Well I think there was collusion for this reason or that.’

“I was a little impressed by that, frankly,” Trump said. “He could’ve gone all out. He only went about 95 percent instead of 100 percent.”

Cohen’s testimony also helped squash the Russian collusion hoax by debunking — again — the Steele dossier.

The dossier helped bolster the Russian conspiracy theory in 2016 by making claims about alleged contacts between Russia and the Trump campaign.

Cohen’s testimony directly contradicted details in the dossier that claimed Cohen had a meeting with Russian officials in the capital of the Czech Republic.

Should this be enough to stop the Russian witch hunt?

“I’ve never been to Prague,” Cohen said. “I’ve never been to the Czech Republic.”

But as should be expected, the establishment media was more interested in covering Cohen’s baseless claims about Trump’s “racism” and alleged “illegal acts.”

For example, CNN offered its “6 takeaways from the Michael Cohen hearing,” which included the typical left-wing talking points of “hush-money payments” to Stormy Daniels and WikiLeaks hysteria.

It’s not just CNN either — the “highlights” from NPR and Axios tell a similar story.

What it comes down to is there is still no evidence for the left’s out-of-control Russian conspiracy theory.

That’s the real takeway from Cohen hearing, whether the mainstream media wants to admit it or not.
