Internet Famous 'Mom & Pop' Make Online Friend, Heartbreaking Post Reveals She's Died of Cancer

Share

It’s crazy how quickly trends can take off now that so many people have access to the internet. People’s lives are put on full display and they can gain a following just by being themselves.

That’s become especially true for one gentleman who goes by the moniker “Pop.” He doesn’t run his own page, but an enterprising grandson of his saw an opportunity and went for it.

Jason, the grandson, realized that his grandpa could become a major star with the right representation.

Apparently, some of Jason’s friends who were familiar with his grandpa’s antics requested that Jason film and post about the lovably grumpy Pop.

More than that small circle of friends has appreciated a peek into the life of Pop, and “Pop Watch” has taken off.

The Pop Watch Facebook page alone has over 1.3 million followers, and some of his videos have gone viral.

The content of those videos is somewhat predictable: Pop grousing about one thing or another. But people love hearing Pop’s commentary and seeing what he gets himself into.

Nan is also an integral part of the show. She’s a patient soul who puts up with her husband’s shenanigans.

They’ve acquired fans all over the globe, but there was one fan in particular who really touched their hearts.

Her name was Jeanie. She loved watching Pop and Nan, and found comfort and joy in keeping up with their lives and being involved, even if from afar.

It eventually came out that Jeanie was battling cancer of some sort, but she downplayed it, preferring to focus on others and the fact that she really enjoyed Pop Watch because it kept her mind off her struggles.

Watching wasn’t enough for her — she wanted to be involved, to be kind to Pop and Nan as a thank-you for the peace they’d brought her. So she figured out a way to send them porch furniture and bird feeders, and said she hoped one day to be able to meet the adorable duo.

Unfortunately, she never made it to their part of Texas.

“The last I heard from Jeanie was around the end of March or early April,” a post on Pop Watch read, “she told me to tell everyone that she was finished with her treatment and she was heading back home and she was so happy to get back home and ‘hopefully’ watch some more videos.”

“I still remember that word ‘hopefully’ for some reason those letters burned into my memory as if this was telling me something.”

She was only 39 when she died, but she has left her mark on the family and on viewers of Pop’s videos. They will forever remember her kindness and dedication.

“I will end this story with the last Facebook post that Jeanie left for the world to see on (June 12, 2018 6:07am),” the Facebook post continued. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
