Parents Take Hilarious 'Empty Nester' Photo Shoot When Youngest Daughter Finally Moves Out
The empty nester phase is one parents both dread and long for with anxious anticipation. They dream of adventurous vacations or simply a Friday night with the house all to themselves.
For 22-year-old photographer Haley Marie Jones, a photo shoot of her “empty nester” parents turned viral in a way they never expected.
“Most parents are a little sad when they hit the ’empty nest’ phase of life,” Jones wrote on her business Facebook page, Haley Marie Photography. “However, my parents seem thrilled.”
The Pontotoc, Mississippi, couple pictured are Randy and Amy English, married 15 years as of June 19. They have one grandchild so far. “His name is Carter and they absolutely adore him,” Jones told Liftable, a section of The Western Journal.
The pair weren’t prepared to become internet sensations when they agreed to do a photo shoot after their youngest daughter signed a lease in March, according to Yahoo! Lifestyle.
“The idea was just random. We threw it together in a matter of hours!!” Jones told Liftable. “They were joking about finally [having] an empty nest and this was the outcome.”
The end result is absolutely adorable. Jones says she made the props, but it was actually her mom who came up with them and the phrases they used.
“They loved the outcome of the pictures but had no clue it would be this huge,” Jones shared with Liftable. Just three days after posting, the pictures had 77,000 comments and nearly 200,000 shares.
While neither Jones nor her parents expected such a response from their little shoot, the blossoming photographer isn’t complaining.
“I am loving that it’s getting shared and put out there because my business is gaining attention, and it could potentially benefit me with booking shoots,” she told Liftable.
While their daughter is looking forward to booking more photography gigs, Randy and Amy just hope to spend more time together as a couple.
Amy in particular may focus more on her business, Shuckin’ With Loo. The new empty nester works for Vantel Pearls and sells beautiful jewelry pieces for all occasions.
“She has a nice following and people started messaging her from all over saying ‘is this you???'” Jones told Liftable. “And it just shocked her! It was a super funny thing to happen, having people we know from all over the U.S. sending us pictures of us on the news!”
That is super funny, but what’s even more hilarious are the excited looks on their faces. This photo shoot could just be an inspiration to other empty nesters in the future. If you need a photographer, you know who to call!
