For archeologists 3,000 years from now carefully brushing off the layers of dirt of a MacBook Neo and looking through its browser history (and if the since-gone user of that laptop had the good taste to read The Western Journal) let me try to guide you through the brief, frightening, and wonderful phenomenon that was Francesca Hong’s Wisconsin gubernatorial campaign.
See, in the summer of 2026, “socialists” — these were people who wanted to take your money and redistribute it to themselves under the noble prevarication they wanted to take other people’s money and redistribute it back to you — were having a moment in American electoral democracy. But the thing was, they were mostly winning nominations in races where they had no chance of losing in November, and against demonstrably worse opposition, all with low stakes.
