Watch: NYC Anti-ICE Agitators Finally Hit With Large Batch of Arrests - Were Protesting Rescue of 5-Year-Old from Illegal Drug, Gang Suspect

About 14 anti-ICE protesters were arrested Wednesday after they shut down the Manhattan side of the Brooklyn Bridge, blocking traffic to protest federal agents who shot an illegal alien drug dealer with gang ties while his 5-year-old son was in the car.

The demonstrators sat in the roadway, chanting and waving banners that read “STOP SHOOTING US” and “STOP SHOOTING OUR NEIGHBORS.”

The blockade backed up traffic until police cleared the bridge and reopened all lanes shortly before 1:30 p.m., according to WABC.

WPIX reported that the protest was a response to the recent ICE shooting in Marble Hill.

That incident involved Oscar Belgal, a 28-year-old illegal alien from the Dominican Republic.

An ICE agent fired multiple rounds into Belgal’s vehicle after he accelerated toward officers who had tried to box him in.

Belgal was hit in the neck; the child in the backseat was unharmed.

The Department of Homeland Security described Belgal as a criminal illegal alien and an associate of the Trinitarios gang. He had been free on supervised release after being indicted on multiple counts of selling fentanyl, heroin, and cocaine to an undercover officer, and he already had a prior conviction for grand larceny, the New York Daily News reported.

Agents had attempted to arrest him weeks earlier, but Belgal successfully fled. Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin said force was necessary after Belgal escalated by trying to drive into the officers.

Journalist Oliya Scootercaster posted a video on X of the Brooklyn Bridge blockade, showcasing the line of protesters that caused a traffic jam.

The protesters’ priorities are clear. They are objecting to the removal of an illegal alien who was selling hard drugs while free on supervised release, who had already fled ICE once, and who then tried to run over federal officers with his 5-year-old son in the backseat.

That child was removed from the situation and placed with relatives.

For the demonstrators, protecting the drug dealer and gang associate from consequences matters more than the danger the boy was placed in.

New York’s sanctuary policies continue to limit cooperation with ICE.

The facts about Belgal have not changed: he is an illegal alien with gang ties, serious drug charges, and a record of resisting arrest.
