'Ilhan Omar' Couldn't Even Spell Her Name Correctly on Controversial Marriage Application for Alleged Brother-Marriage

A member of Congress could not even get her own name right when she filled out a marriage application to get hitched to a guy alleged to be her brother.

The New York Post secured a certified copy of the 2009 document for the marriage of Ahmed Elmi and Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, whose immigration status is reportedly under investigation.

On the application, the surname of the Somali lawmaker was first written as Omar. It was crossed out to put in Elmi. Then that was crossed out to put Omar.

The application becomes part of a wider investigation into whether Omar committed fraud by marrying her brother, who is a self-described homosexual, according to recent reports.

It also connects to allegations that Omar’s real birth date was not used when filing to become a citizen.

The Justice Department called the “Squad” member “Congresswoman Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, a/k/a Ilhan Abdullahi Omar” in a recent court filing.

The marriage application was part of local news coverage in 2016, the year Omar was elected to the Minnesota House. Scott W. Johnson, a retired Minneapolis attorney who has been trying to get to the bottom of the tangled tale of Omar’s alleged marriage to her brother, said that “the whole thing is a red flag.”

“Questions should be asked. She’s never answered them,” Johnson said.

AJ Kern, a Republican who once ran for Congress against Omar, said that fraud surrounds the four-term Democrat.

“I think it’s pretty clear she married her brother and committed immigration fraud,” Kern said, noting that the question of possible fraud is of major importance.

“If the evidence seems to be pointing to the fact that she never obtained citizenship, Congress is failing to do their job. If we’ve had a foreign nationalist occupying a seat in Congress, that’s a problem,” Kern said.

Earlier this week, Joe Radinovich, a former Minnesota state representative and Democratic aide to Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, warned Democrats that the marriage fraud story is accurate.

“Democrats should understand that the allegation is almost certainly true — whatever conclusion they draw from that point could vary — and her denials calling it a right-wing, Islamophobic or racist conspiracy are almost certainly not,” Radinovich posted on X.

“And then I’d be very, very careful about how I qualified on allegations around her finances — where her defense looks similar and where no meaningful questions have been answered publicly, and where any objective look at the evidence doesn’t look… great,” he posted on X.

According to The New York Times, the FBI and Department of Homeland Security investigated Omar’s marriage in 2016, during the Obama administration, and found indications of fraud.

The outlet said prosecutors did not drop the case on its merits, but because of a five-year statute of limitations on marriage fraud in the context of immigration.
