It Begins: Migrant Caravan Heads for US Border After Dems Win Midterms

Believing that the Democratic Party is the party of open borders, a caravan of migrants is on the move north from Central America.

The group, estimated to number in the “dozens of people,” left San Pedro Sula in Honduras Tuesday, according to the Tico Times.

“Trump is on his way out in these elections. That’s why we’re taking the risk,” Jimena Morazán, 47, said.

This is the third caravan to head north since September.

The Trump administration has said it will revoke the visas of anyone organizing the caravan.

Although Tuesday’s elections will put Congress in the hands of Democrats in January, the Trump administration is not expected to alter the type of response that came in September, when reports of a caravan emerged, as noted by Fox News.

A Department of Homeland Security statement at the time said the Border Patrol “is closely engaged with its international partners to monitor their movement and any additional developments.”

“USBP reminds migrants that under the leadership of President Trump and Homeland Secretary Mullin, the border has remained closed and secured for the last 16 months,” DHS said.

The statement warned that the era of “catch and release” is over, “and Biden’s disastrous open border policy has been SEALED SHUT.”

“Anyone attempting to illegally enter the United States will be apprehended, prosecuted, and removed from the country,” DHS said.

A social media post from the U.S. Embassy in Honduras noted that caravans are not a sudden response to poverty.

“Some people mistakenly believe that the ‘caravans’ of migrants seeking to enter our country illegally arise spontaneously. They definitely do not,” the post said.

“These are meticulously organized through social media and, during the previous Administration, became a massive and lucrative business, primarily for criminal organizations,” the post said.

“The migrants themselves are simply pawns in this scheme and are frequently subjected to inhuman and degrading treatment during the journey,” the post said.

“Under the leadership of @POTUS @realDonaldTrump, all of this came to an immediate halt, and now we have THE SAFEST BORDER IN HISTORY,” the post said.

“However, the criminals and caravan organizers have not disappeared or given up. Even now, they continue to organize caravans that HAVE NO CHANCE WHATSOEVER of entering our country,” the post said.

Although federal agents will guard the border, elections are expected to create a vast hole in Texas, where state forces sealed the border, Bill Melugin, a congressional correspondent for Fox News who has a long history of covering the border, noted on X.
