Actor Christian Bale Unrecognizable as Dick Cheney in Trailer for New Biopic 'Vice'

Changing for a movie role is a challenging task for any actor or actress unless, of course, the actor is Christian Bale.

Bale has done it once again by transforming his appearance to the point of unrecognizable for another movie role, the Huffington Post reported.

Bale appears in the new biopic “Vice” as Dick Cheney, and his appearance nearly mimics the previous vice president of the United States to a tee.

“Vice” is the creation of Adam McKay, director of the movie, “The Big Short.”

The movie trailer, which was released Wednesday, shows Bale playing Cheney with incredible accuracy and precision. The movie itself will not be released in theaters until Dec. 25.

For the role, Bale gained 40 pounds, shaved his head and dyed his eyebrows.

“Vice,” which was previously titled “Backseat,” walks through Cheney’s journey to vice president alongside former President George W. Bush.

In the trailer for the movie, the political figure shows that he will be the one taking the reigns when Bush — played by Academy Award-winning actor Sam Rockwell — asks him to be his running mate to the White House.

Will you see the movie "Vice" with Christian Bale?

“George, I’m a CEO of a large company,” Bale as Cheney said in the trailer. “I have been secretary of defense, and I have been White House chief of staff. The vice presidency is a mostly symbolic job.”

The biopic trailer shows Cheney accepting the role as vice president only if Bush lets him manage “mundane” responsibilities such as “overseeing bureaucracy, military, energy and foreign policy.”

“Yeah, right,” Rockwell responded as Bush. “I like that.”

“I’ve never seen someone work so hard at it, and it is hard on him, but really amazing to watch,” McKay told the Huffington Post about Bale’s appearance transformation.

“I’m not worried about him looking exactly like Dick Cheney, I’m worried about him getting into the essence of this guy who’s complicated — surprisingly or maybe not so surprisingly, depending on your view of him.”

Bale certainly shows he has the chops to take on any character that is thrown his way. This is one movie that deserves to be seen if only to see the remarkable transformation that Bale underwent.
