Border Patrol Union Leader to Pelosi, Schumer: Come Down Here & I'll Show You What It's Like

Share

President Donald Trump hosted the top two Democratic Party leaders in Congress — Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi — for a discussion in the Oval Office about an impending spending bill battle and a potential government shutdown.

The nationally televised debate became contentious at times as Trump made it clear that a border wall was an integral part of “border security” while Pelosi and Schumer insisted that a wall was not necessary and they had no intentions of providing funding for one.

But Pelosi and Schumer’s insistence that a border wall and increased border security measures were too costly and unnecessary didn’t sit well with people who actually have first-hand knowledge of the current security status at the border, such as U.S. Border Patrol agents and those who represent them.

One of those people is Art Del Cueto, a vice president of the National Border Patrol Council and proponent of a border wall, who issued an open invitation  during an appearance on the Fox Business Network for both Pelosi and Schumer to join him at the border so they could see for themselves just how necessary a wall and additional security measures truly are right now.

Asked if he had ever heard Democratic politicians like Pelosi and Schumer talk about the immigration law loopholes exploited by illegal immigrants, the Border Patrol union leader said he had not, and urged those politicians to come and see what was happening at the border themselves.

“No, I heard some of the words that they said earlier today and they were attacking the president, attacking the wall,” Del Cueto said.

“And you know what? Nancy Pelosi and Schumer, they can come down here and help us patrol the border and I’ll show them how difficult and how dangerous it really is, and how that wall makes a difference.”

It would be great to see the expressions of concern and fear on the faces of Pelosi and Schumer as they witnessed first-hand what the situation at the southern border is really like for the men and women who defend it every day.

Would you like to see Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi actually join Border Patrol agents to witness for themselves what is going on?

Imagine both Schumer and Pelosi on horseback with Border Patrol agents combing the desert scrubland for illegal entrants and violent drug smugglers, or rescuing sexually-violated women and children who’ve been left to die by human traffickers in that inhospitable region, or facing hordes of angry migrants rushing the border while hurling rocks and bottles at them.

Unfortunately, that is unlikely to occur as both Pelosi and Schumer already know that what they would see would undermine their ridiculous narrative that the border is already secure enough.

Schumer had attempted to spin pro-wall statistics produced by Trump at the meeting against the president. Trump had noted how much illegal traffic across the border had dropped in areas where there was already a wall as compared to areas that don’t have any sort of wall or other barriers.

Schumer suggested that those numbers were evidence that current border security measures were adequate — an obviously false narrative that neglected to account for the fact that those numbers only pertained to select areas and not the entire border.

Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer have been placed on notice by Trump that he will have his border wall funded one way or another, and those two have been called out by the Border Patrol to see what Trump is trying to address with the wall for themselves. As much as we’d like to see them admit they’ve been wrong and either fund the wall or go to the border to witness the situation first-hand, we certainly aren’t holding our breath.
