Mollie Tibbetts' Alleged Murderer Arrested, Identified as 24-Year-Old Illegal Immigrant
Shortly after the announcement of Mollie Tibbetts’ death earlier this morning, law enforcement has put a suspect in custody.
Mollie was last seen jogging on July 18, 2018, near her boyfriend’s home; she was house sitting for him while he was out of town for work.
The next morning Dalton Jack, her boyfriend, sent a good morning text that never received an answer, but he didn’t begin to worry until one of Mollie’s co-workers let him know she did not show up for work that day.
Dalton reached out to her family and they quickly filed a missing persons report.
The next five weeks were filled with tireless searches for the beloved college student, but none of those searches produced any more clues to where she may have gone.
Mollie’s family and friends, however, continued to hold on to hope and the community rallied around the family to help bring her home. The case quickly gained national attention as thousands of people spread Mollie’s story to help the family’s search.
On August 18, 2018, investigators advised the family to return to their everyday lives and let the investigators take over the search.
Rob was hesitant, but eventually conceded. “Very reluctantly, I’m being told I sort of need to do this,” he said, according to KCRG. “We’ve called this sort of a half-time, a break.”
On August 21, 2018, the search finally came to a tragic end when investigators found Mollie Tibbetts’ body. Her father confirmed the devastating news to Fox News.
Law enforcement has just arrested a suspect in her death.
Twenty-four-year-old Christian Rivera is being held on a federal immigration detainer according to a press conference, and he is being charged with first-degree murder in Tibbetts’ death.
