Rosie Says US 'In Worst Shape,' Fails To Notice Record Stocks and Unemployment
Why let facts get in the way of a good argument?
That tongue-in-cheek phrase has somehow been embraced as a legitimate game plan by the far left.
Rosie O’Donnell, whose last moment of significance happened when jorts were still considered a fashion statement, has been one of the loudest celebrity opponents to President Donald Trump and his administration.
Now, it’s one thing to have a differing political opinion. It’s actually a good thing to voice legitimate concerns, considering that no presidential administration is perfect. Constructive criticism of the government is fundamental to a democratic republic.
But what O’Donnell’s doing? There’s literally nothing constructive about it.
It’s tantamount to the Simpsons meme featuring Grandpa Abe yelling at a cloud. Only instead of an old man, it’s a washed up has-been yelling into the clouds.
O’Donnell’s latest moment of “brilliance” (and I could not be more facetious in my use of that word) came at a protest outside of the White House.
Of note, and this just goes to show how much foreplanning far-leftists utilize, Trump was in New Jersey on Monday evening when protesters were yelling at clouds outside of the White House.
When PJ Media’s Nicholas Ballasy interviewed O’Donnell at the protests, her blabbering was… inaccurate, to say the least.
“There are many metrics you can use, and I think everyone tries to parse them up to their advantage. I know the country has never been in worse shape than it is now and largely responsible is Donald Trump, thank you,” O’Donnell said.
Never mind that the overall unemployment rate has dropped to a nearly 50-year low.
Never mind that minority unemployment rates have hit record lows.
Never mind the surging stock markets, that have enjoyed all sorts of record highs.
O’Donnell isn’t interested in such things.
“ I do know that (Trump’s) tax cuts have only helped the most rich people in the country and everyone is saying the economy is booming – it’s booming for billionaires, it’s not booming for people with all these tariffs on steel in the middle of the country, for soybean farmers. They might have had a big payday today but they’re not going to get it next year when all these horrible tariffs are on everything,” she continued.
The bit about tax reform only helping the richest in America simply isn’t true. It benefits everyone, but obviously to varying degrees. A person with more money will benefit more from a tax cut. A sixth-grade economics class can teach you that. In fact, a fifth-grade class about fractions and percentages can teach you that.
And her complaints about tariffs demonstrates a stark misunderstanding (shocking, I know) about economics. Yes, there may be some immediate pains involved with them, but the long game is to preserve American’s self-sustainability. It’s the whole teach-a-man-to-fish parable.
Oh, I apologize. I’m letting facts get in the way of a far-left argument. My bad.
