To Thank Gillibrand for Attacking Guns, the NRA Released a Damning Letter from Her It's Had for 11 Years

The National Rifle Association is at it again, and no Democratic presidential candidate is safe from its ridicule.

On Monday, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand of New York became the latest victim when the NRA released a “love letter” from the Senator back when she was still serving in the House of Representatives, IJR reported.

It all started with Gillibrand, who is currently struggling to garner 0.5% support in her bid for the Democratic nomination for president, speaking at the Everytown for Gun Safety and Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense Forum.

The Senator seemed proud of her anti-gun stance, as she posted a snippet of the thinly veiled campaign speech on Twitter.

“[Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell] could call us back into Congress today,” she said. “We could pass universal background checks today. We can ban assault weapons. We can ban large magazines. We can have a federal anti-trafficking law today.”

Of course, this didn’t get past the NRA, and the pro-gun group just couldn’t resist embarrassing Gillibrand. It responded to the tweet with a letter that she wrote to them back in 2008, demonstrating a much different tenor on the issue of guns.

“Wait… Did you also show them the love letter you wrote us?” Ouch.

The letter looks like something that could have come right out of this publication.

What could have caused such a fall from grace over the 11 years since?

Could it be the increasing rate of violent crime? That seems unlikely, since the exact opposite is true. The rate of violent crime was higher back when Gillibrand penned the letter.

If you asked the candidate yourself, she would probably tell you her heart was touched by a tragic story of a teenage girl’s senseless death. Of course, the teen’s mother would be quick to note just how politically motivated Gillibrand’s compassion really was.

Do you think Kirsten Gillibrand will continue to flip-flop?

I think we’re getting somewhere here. The senator has shown over her campaign that she is willing to jump on any leftist bandwagon to get it off the ground.

Just a few months ago, she took a stance supporting the abolition of private insurance and demanded the end of the Electoral College. Unfortunately for her, the 2020 election will still feature electoral votes, and my cat may receive just as many as Gillibrand.

That isn’t lost on her, so the former moderate is getting even more desperate. It seems to be an open secret that she’ll say just about anything to get elected, as Democratic front-runner and resident gaffe machine Joe Biden revealed in the last debate.

“You came to Syracuse University with me and said it was wonderful… I don’t know what’s happened except that you’re now running for president,” the former vice president retorted to her jab.

That clip demonstrated just how much it is of an uphill climb for the senator, but at least she’s a candidate with principles who knows what she believes in.

For now, anyway.
