Dog Thanks Firefighter with Kiss After Being Rescued from Roof of Home

Share

Dogs are incredibly smart creatures. Of course, they’re also curious — and sometimes, that curiosity can get them into tricky situations.

So when neighbors and passers-by in a Maine neighborhood noticed the situation one pup got himself into, it was clear why they were concerned.

One clever husky had managed to squeeze through an open window on the upper level of his home and out onto the roof.

Although the dog didn’t seem too worried about his predicament, one concerned citizen called the fire department and kept an eye on him until they arrived.

In the video, Captain Jeff Nawfel of the Wells Fire Department makes his way onto the roof to the dog. While he works to remove the screen from the window and safely transfer him back inside, it’s clear the pup wants nothing to do with going in.

After refusing to go back through the window on his own, the husky has a seat beside the firefighter as he works.

Finally, the pup realizes his hero is there to save him and gives him a big kiss to thank him.

“Thank you kisses to Captain Nawfel! It’s pawsatively love! Is there anything more stunning than an animal expressing gratitude?!” The Wells Maine Police wrote on their Facebook page.

Thankfully, the dog was unharmed after his adventure onto the roof. And while this may have been an alarming sight for many passing by, it isn’t a uncommon occurrence.

Take Huck the Roof Dog, a dog so well known for hanging out on the roof of his family’s home that he’s become famous for it.

His owners have even gone as far as putting up a sign on their home letting others know not to be concerned.

“Don’t be alarmed!” the sign says. “Huckleberry is living up to his name and learned how to jump onto the roof from our backyard.”

“We appreciate your concern but please do not knock on our door…We know he’s up there!”
