She decided to give it to him as “an early birthday present.” Even though it was right before Christmas, the baby’s due date happened to fall on his birthday: August 19.

When Austin got home, she handed him a bag and told him to open it. At first, he was confused and she couldn’t hold back her tears.

But after one look at his emotional wife, he knew. “Wait. No way,” he exclaimed, tears welling in his eyes. “Are you playing me right now?” Jess was only able to shake her head no.

He pulled the tissue paper out of the bag and found a picture that said “Baby Spomer coming in August.” A positive pregnancy test strip was also in the frame.

Tears immediately began streaming down his face. He was both shocked and extremely excited at the same time, and kept asking if it was a prank.

Jess asked him what his first thoughts were and he answered, “This feels like a dream.”

A few months later, the couple got together with family and close friends to find out the gender of Baby Spomer.

They ordered confetti cannons and gathered in the back yard for the reveal. They counted to three and pink confetti flew into the air — it’s a girl!
