Ex-Bush Staffer Drops Jaws Even in DC: Praises Hitler as Better Than Trump

Share

While the more lunatic-fringe of the left often falsely compares President Donald Trump to Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler, one ex-staffer under former President George H.W. Bush took things a step further Tuesday by suggesting Hitler was actually better than Trump.

Bruce Bartlett, a never-Trumper who served in both the Reagan and first Bush administrations, voiced his absurd views on Twitter.

“Key differences between Donald Trump and Adolph (sic) Hitler–Hitler served honorably in the military, Trump didn’t; Hitler was faithful to his wife, Trump cheated on all his wives; Hitler wrote a book, Trump’s were all ghostwritten,” Bartlett tweeted.

Besides misspelling Hitler’s first name, Bartlett couldn’t even get his history right.

Hitler didn’t marry his “wife,” Eva Braun, until it was clear that the war was over in 1945. They committed suicide hours after their marriage.

Does Bruce Bartlett owe Trump supporters an apology?

The details of history aside, it’s weird to the point of obscene for Bartlett to praise Hitler in comparison to Trump, considering Hitler provoked a war that cost tens of millions of lives, and created a fully functioning genocide machine that murdered millions and millions more.

What is the worst thing Trump has done?

Is Bartlett angry that Trump’s economic policies have decreased unemployment, fostered economic growth, and created millions of new jobs?

There really is not much to complain about Trump. However, Bartlett doubled down on his comparison.

“Anyone who really thinks a comparison between Trump and Hitler is absurd should watch ‘Triumph of the Will’ and then watch one of Trump’s MAGA rallies. His rallies are easy to find. Fox runs them uncut,” Bartlett tweeted.

Bartlett was wrong again.

The massive, choreographed military spectacles of the Nazi regime depicted in propaganda films like “Triumph of the Will” are not remotely comparable to the benign rallies of Trump in which the president talks peacefully about policy issues — as his predecessors in office have done for generations without plunging the world into global warfare.

In 2008, candidate Barack Obama drew tens of thousands of fervent supporters to his campaign rallies. Would Bartlett have compared Obama to Hitler?

Comparisons of any American politician to Hitler are always silly, but Barlett’s tweets are somehow worse.

As a man who served in the Reagan and first Bush administrations, and now gives leftist outlets like Salon interviews headlined “The Republican Party needs to die,” he’s a perfect example of the Washington swamp.

And why it needs to be drained.
