Right about the moment the bullets stopped flying in the Parkland, Florida high school massacre was when anti-gun Democrats launched their latest full-scale assault on the Second Amendment and those who support it.
Rather than hold the murderous scumbag who perpetrated the shooting accountable for his horrific actions, the anti-gunners have cast blame upon the National Rifle Association, Republican politicians and gun owners in general — all of whom have “blood on their hands” and apparently hate children.
This, even as evidence increasingly emerges that shows that this mass shooting was largely enabled by a number of institutional failures that should have prevented the shooter from legally getting his hands on a weapon.
Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee had all that in mind Friday when he tweeted, “What did I miss? Cowardly corporations punish NRA because FBI failed to act on info re: shooter and FL Sheriff had 4 deputies who stood outside and hid during gunfire that killed 17 innocent kids. How many NRA members did mass shootings? ZERO.”

According to Fox News, a number of major corporations have already bowed under a politically-motivated liberal pressure campaign to sever ties with the NRA, a move that could potentially backfire as millions of NRA-supporters — both member and non-member, gun-owning and non-gun-owning alike — take their business elsewhere.
As of Saturday afternoon, those cowardly corporations caving to the anti-gun lobby included: Avis Car Rental, Allied Van Lines, Budget Rent-A-Car, Chubb, Delta Airlines, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Hertz Rent-A-Car, MetLife insurance, North American Van Lines, TrueCar, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Symantec and United Airlines, among others.
This liberal push to cut business ties with the NRA came as it was revealed that the FBI had dropped the ball at least twice in regard to the shooter, having received calls to their tip line that he was on the verge of exploding in violence that were not adequately followed up on, according to CBS News.
“Now let me be clear, there was a mistake made, we know that, but it is our job to make sure that we do everything in our power to ensure that does not happen again,” stated FBI acting Deputy Director David Bowdich in a Thursday press conference.
In a separate statement earlier in the week, the FBI admitted, “Under established protocols, the information provided by the caller should have been assessed as a potential threat to life. The information then should have been forwarded to the FBI Miami Field Office, where appropriate investigative steps would have been taken.”
But the FBI’s failure paled in comparison to that of the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, who despite dozens of complaints and contacts with the eventual shooter, never arrested or charged him with anything that would have prevented him from purchasing or possessing the firearm used to commit the mass murder.
On top of that, south Florida’s Sun-Sentinel news reported that Coral Springs police officers who responded to the shooting as backup were actually the first to enter the building in search of the shooter because at least four Broward deputies were standing outside as the lethal shooting took place when they arrived on scene.
Those four deputies would include the one assigned to the school as a resource officer, Scot Peterson, who was suspended without pay and subsequently resigned and retired after his fatal inaction was revealed to the public.
“If our investigation shows that our deputies made no mistakes or did things right, or it’s not corroborated, there will be no issue,” stated Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel. “If we find out, as we did with Peterson, that our deputies made mistakes and didn’t go in, I’ll handle it like I always have. I’ll handle any violations of policy or procedures or whatever accordingly.”
Bear in mind that the Florida shooter was not an NRA member, nor did the NRA put the gun into his hands or encourage him to slaughter innocent children. It should also be recalled that the Texas church mass shooting in Nov. of 2017 was stopped by an NRA-certified instructor with his own AR-15 semi-automatic rifle.
Huckabee is right that the NRA bears absolutely zero responsibility in this or any other mass shooting, and it is high time that anti-gun liberals find another boogeyman upon which to vent their hate, if they actually do want to find acceptable solutions to keep school children safe and prevent future mass shootings — because demonizing a civil rights organization and banning all guns isn’t acceptable at all.
