Irate Woman Storms Into School with Paper Bag Hiding Pistol in Hand. Brave Teacher Saves Day

Sometimes kids these days are given a hard time. They’re blamed for not growing up, for being lazy, or for occasionally doing some downright stupid things.

But those issues are not really issues of age, they’re part of the human condition. Sometimes the role models kids have only perpetuate immaturity and bad habits.

In Jacksonville, Florida, a mom on a mission was upset. The 43-year-old mom, Sharon Kelly, had had just about enough — but instead of using her anger as an opportunity to teach her kids a beneficial lesson, she did something reckless.

Fortunately, an observant teacher was on campus and saw that something was up. Lin Shell was a physical education teacher, and knew most of his students‘ parents.

But when this lady showed up, he didn’t recognize her.

When she first arrived at the school, she opened the door and let four boys out. They went into the gym and were soon involved in an altercation.

As Shell tried to get a handle on the situation and get things to calm down, Kelly decided to use her own methods to address the issue.

Fortunately, as Shell was trying to get things under control, a student noticed Kelly go back to her car to retrieve something and informed Shell.

“She got out of the car,” Shell said, “she was irate, basically saying she wasn’t going to let anyone jump on her family.”

“I came behind the lady and noticed that she kind of had a bag over her hand,” Shell said. “Looked again and saw the rear sights of a pistol.”

Recognition and terror must have torn through him, but Shell acted quickly.

“I came from behind her, I saw that she had a gun, I grabbed her hand, put her hand down and near her elbow and walked her back out, kept her hand down and pushed her back out the door,” Shell said, “just basically told her please don’t shoot our kids.”

“Please don’t shoot our kids.” That shouldn’t be something you need to tell a parent. Parents should know that.

Thankfully Shell managed to get her away from the kids and one of the school’s armed officers took over from there.

“At the end of the day,” Shell warned, “the adults need to be adults and we need to figure this thing out, because if this if this is where we’re at in society raising our kids, we have a real problem.”
