It Isn't Hard to See Exactly How Steven Irwin Would Feel About Bindi's New Boyfriend

Share

Losing a parent brings a wave of grief no one can quite explain. Even after years of living without that person, their presence is still missed and sometimes the loss feels as fresh as if it happened yesterday.

We all want our parents to be proud of us. We hope the choices we make are ones they would make for us.

For those of us who remember watching The Crocodile Hunter, we also recall the tragedy behind wildlife guru Steve Irwin’s death. But despite the sadness that followed for his family, his children haven’t let their father’s legacy die.

We’ve seen Irwin’s son, Robert, as a guest on The Tonight Show. This boy’s love for wildlife certainly comes from his dad.

And when it comes to Irwin’s daughter, Bindi, the apple hasn’t fallen far from the tree either. Not only has she grown up with a passion for wildlife conservation, but her choice in men hasn’t strayed too far from her father either.

Chandler Powell and Bindi Irwin had their first encounter in 2013. Bindi was the private tour guide for Powell and his family during their visit to the Australia Zoo in Queensland.

It took some time for the two to fall in love, especially since their relationship has been long distance. But through it all they found a way, and now they’re two peas in the same pod.

“I feel so blessed that I actually managed to find… my soul mate,” Bindi said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight back in 2016. Years later, nothing has changed, and Bindi’s followers have continued to see the couple’s love blossom through her posts on Instagram.

In another interview with Australia Women’s Weekly, Bindi shared exactly what she believed her father would have thought of her beau. “Mum and Robert and I have talked about that a lot. We think dad would have loved Chandler.”

Rumors of the couple’s engagement have begun to spread since last year. Though there is no official announcement as of yet to verify these rumors as true, followers can’t deny Irwin and Powell’s relationship is headed anywhere but marriage.

But Bindi doesn’t seem to be in any rush. “For us, we are happy just being together and enjoying the adventure. Why rush that next part of our lives as well?” she shared.

As Powell shares Bindi’s passion for all things wild, is there any doubt her father would have welcomed this young man into the family with open arms? If wedding bells are in their future, I’m sure we can all expect the ceremony location to be as wild and adventurous as this adorable couple.
