Chef Gordon Ramsay Announces Birth of 5th Child, Uses Name To Pull Ultimate Dad Joke

Share

Big name stars don’t live life like the rest of us — and nowhere is that more evident than in the ways in which they name their children. In fact, celebrities seem to delight in giving their offspring decidedly bizarre monikers.

Just consider that Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West named their daughter North. Meanwhile, Gwyneth Paltrow dubbed her daughter Apple, and Elle Macpherson called her son Aurelius after the ancient Roman emperor.

Now celebrity chef and reality TV star Gordon Ramsay has welcomed his fifth child into the world with wife, Tana Ramsey. And the typically fiery Scottish celebrity used his little boy’s name to pull off a pun that’s far more dad joke than his usual savage humor.

In fact, “savage” is a good descriptor for Ramsay, as fans of his Fox program “Hell’s Kitchen” know. The reality show features Ramsey winnowing down a field of wannabe chefs, often employing terribly deprecating humor along the way.

BabbleTop collected his best quips, and virtually all of them are zingers. For instance, when Ramsay discovered that a contestant had ignored food safety and seemed ready to serve up raw chicken, he yelled, “Hey, panini head, are you listening to me?”

Another time, he berated aspiring chefs who’d poorly prepared Caesar salads by saying, “My gran can do better, and she’s dead!”

Ramsay has also inserted pop culture references into his jibes.nWhen a contestant got a little too heavy handed with the spices, he turned to the “Harry Potter” franchise to make his point. “You’ve put so much ginger into this it’s a Weasley,” he exclaimed.

So after fans learned he’d soon welcome a new baby to his brood, they certainly had to wonder if he’d pull off any hijinks with the new tot. Of course, past history had shown that Ramsay and his wife weren’t exactly warming to the idea of a crazy baby name.

Ramsay’s other four children are named Megan, Matilda, Jack and Holly, LADbible reported. Hardly the most exotic monikers.

But trust the Ramsays to make even a normal name into a joke. The humor started with a New Year’s announcement video.

As the camera zipped from family member to family member, each of them wishing viewers a happy New Year, it stopped at Tana. “And guess what?” Ramsay, who was behind the camera, asked.

The camera then dipped down to show Tana’s very pregnant tummy. A decidedly delighted-sounding Ramsay exclaimed, “We’ve got another one coming!”

On April 4, little Oscar Ramsay entered the world, and his famous father decided to make the announcement using sublimely silly wordplay.

He wrote on Instagram, “After 3 Baftas and one Emmy … finally we have won an Oscar.

“Please welcome Oscar James Ramsay, who touched down at 12:58 today for some lunch!” Many congratulations to the Ramsays, and here’s hoping young Oscar will one day develop enough mojo in the kitchen to avoid his dad’s critical eye.
