Little Boy with ADHD Becomes Successful Musician All Thanks to One Caring Teacher

Share

Sometimes it takes just one person to make a difference, an impact on someone’s life. For drummer Clint Pulver, that person was Mr. Jensen.

In a viral and heartwarming video, Pulver shares his experience growing up with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder — ADHD.

“When I was about 10 years old and I was in school and I struggled…” he explains. “I struggled holding still.”

Pulver talks about how he would constantly tap in class. Teachers would get frustrated or impatient, and one principal even told him to sit on his hands.

It wasn’t until one day, in Mr. Jensen’s classroom, that a turning point happened for Pulver. When Mr. Jensen asked him to stay after class, the boy was certain he was in trouble.

Fortunately, it was precisely the opposite. “I’ve always been a person that believes that a single moment in time can change a person’s life,” Pulver says. “And this was one of those moments for me.”

What Mr. Jensen said to a young Clint that day will give you chills. “Hey Clint, you’re not a problem,” Mr. Jensen said. “I think you’re a drummer.”

“From that moment on, I’ve never put those sticks down,” Pulver explains. “Just because of a single moment in time when somebody believed in me. And he saw something in me that I didn’t even see within myself.”

Pulver isn’t only a drummer, his website reveals he’s also a motivational speaker and licensed pilot. Hailing from Heber City, Utah, the successful man graduated from Utah Valley University with a Bachelors in Speech Communication.

According to Understood, ADHD is one of the most common conditions a child can have. “Understanding the challenges of ADHD allows you to find the best help possible for your child,” Understood states.

The condition is seemingly all-too-often misunderstood. Thankfully for Pulver, Mr. Jensen saw him as unique rather than a problem.

Now Pulver wants to impact lives in the same way. “It’s not about being the best in the world…” he says on his website. “It’s about being the best FOR the world.”

Truly inspiring words from an inspiring man. His story can be an encouragement to anyone who has felt like a problem themselves.

ADHD doesn’t have to be a problem. You just have to know how to find the right pair of “drumsticks” that will help a child soar.
