Surrogate Mom and Baby Flee to TX for Protection as Bio Parents Sue Her for Refusing to Abort Baby

Share

A surrogate mother fleeing to Texas now finds herself in a legal battle with the couple who hired her to carry their child.

Nasheen Gilkar and Omar Ahmed filed suit against 28-year-old nurse McKenna West from Alaska weeks before she gave birth to her child. The couple says they agreed to pay West $60,000 to be a surrogate, but included a clause in their agreement that an abortion would take place if the baby experienced problems.

At 20 weeks, West’s child was diagnosed with hypoplastic left heart syndrome, which the New York Post notes in their report can be life threatening. West did not get an abortion, but traveled to Texas where the child was born on August 12.

The Mayo Clinic notes on this condition, “it’s a congenital heart defect. In this condition, the left side of the heart doesn’t develop fully and is too small. So it can’t pump blood well. Instead, the right side of the heart must pump blood to the lungs and to the rest of the body.”

Babies born with the condition are typically unwell soon after birth.

Gilkar and Omar are seeking $100,000 in damages from West for going against the contract, alleging, “malicious, outrageous conduct.” The child, whom West named Gabriel, belongs to her under state law. “She is seeking parentage of the child because she gave birth in Texas, and in Texas, if you give birth to a child, it’s your child,” her attorney, Lincoln Wilson commented.

The Post says West will legally try to be recognized as Gabriel’s parent.

Gilkar and Omar deny any allegations they threatened West to force the abortion.

West signed the contract and that is unfortunate, but as the Apostles stated in Acts 5:29, “we should obey God rather than men.”

If a contract from men harms the innocent, we should not obey it.

Jeremiah 1:5 reads, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

God’s creation is not a commodity.

Surrogacy is a problem in itself, but it appears West is trying to do the right thing now.

Ridding society of innocent children with health conditions is not compassionate. It is eugenics.

We are devolving when we cast out children like Gabriel.

He did not ask for any of this.

He came into being as part of God’s plan, a plan that he has for all of us.

Simply killing him because he’s seen as an inconvenience defies the will of our creator.
